Hob knob, pardon the pun,
2 year old has gone a bit tight, stiff to turn off.
Any harm in giving it a squirt of WD40?

Might be better with a spray of a silicon based lubricant, it's better on O rings. I keep a can in the van and spray the cassette seal every once in a while too.

When a gas tap becomes stiff, it normally requires re-greasing. This is a job for a professional (and one we don't like) is it not under guarantee? At the age of the one you have it may have been "cooked" have you used a large pan? This can deflect heat over the controls

Let us know if you have success, as we have sticky hob knob when the ovens used. And no not the biscuits.

Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
The fridge gas knob on our last moho seized up, freed in two seconds with a silicon lubricating fluid.(y)
