Smaller Affordable Festivals With Camping

Never been but theres a music and cider festival at a pub near Gt Yarmouth, August bank holiday. We stayed for a 'free' night last year, just use the pub or buy drinks. The staff said campers are allowed for the weekend free of charge, but obviously you need to check. It's the Lord Nelson I think

One that we haven't been to been to but volunteer run & profits to local charities & good causes - Fox Festival http://foxfestival.co.uk/camping/ 19-21 June 2020 (tickets on sale 1 February 2020) at Market Harborough Showground costs £80.09 (includes booking fee) which looks like it includes weekend tickets for 2 adults, camping pitch (up to 28ft) from Friday lunchtime until Monday morning with water & waste facilities in the camping areas. There's a public bus from outside the Showground running into nearby Market Harborough. They have recently changed name but this is their Facebook page .

Good idea.
We like the Acoustic Festival of Britain at Uttoxeter Racecourse. https://acousticfestival.co.uk
We started going some years ago because we knew some of the acts but some years we haven't really known many. However that didn't affect our enjoyment. We like the fact that it all takes place within the racetrack (camping and Festival) so you are never far if you want to nip back. They have made improvements each year too. We think it is quite reasonable compared to other festivals at £270 for the 3 days for 2 of us. Although I'm sure some will think that is expensive. We find that it is nearly half the cost of other festivals that we would like to go to.

Cheers
Chris

I put up a thread a little while ago, link here, don't know how else to point to it.

Booked today the Twinwood vintage 30s 40s 50s festival, August bank holiday. Web site shows brilliant videos and great feedback, it’s far from cheap but all feedback is excellent not to be missed. Bought it for hubby’s 70th

If you are into Country & Western, the Welshpool C&W festival is brilliant.

It is held in the grounds of Powis castle and is walkable into Welshpool.

It is very much a feet-in-grass festival with great music - the main stage is a curtain-sided trailer. There are stalls, food outlets, a beer tent and canal trips. The money raised goes towards funding boat trips for people with disabilities.

Ticket prices are about £40 per person regardless of whether you are in a tent or an RV.

You can always organise your own - but ideally when its warmer than this one I set up. :)

We’ve been to “Marvellous” in Wokingham for the past 2 years, very chilled and relaxed, no yobs, all tribute acts on the main stage, local groups on the second stage, tons of kids entertainment free on both days.

The Festival web site

Jim

PS, about £210 for 2 people fri AM to Mon midday

We have enjoyed this one, going again next year

Just put Wirral Folk Festival in to you search engine for more details and ticket prices.

Eden festival, near Moffat, Dumf 'n' Gumph. Small (relatively), different, quirky, manageable, decent crowd, good tunes, not over crowded, excellent for kids. I just booked for June next year; can't say fairer than that.

Broadstairs Folk Week
7-14 August 2020
I think it's the largest, or second largest folk festival, but as it takes place in multiple locations (every pub, tea room and band stand in Broadstairs) there are no heaving crowds or mosh pits.
Broken Link Removed
You need to book camping at the main site and the other local sites this side of Xmas, as they always sell out early.

PS - Many of the bands are free to see for the price of a pint. Don't think much of them after a couple of songs ?, not a problem, try the band playing next door!

We love Towersey - moving next year to Claydon Estate, next to former home of Florence Nightingale. It's a National Trust property so plenty of time and opportunity for Funsters to complain! I know how they love the NT on here!

Towersey was the first music festival in UK in 1965. They cater well for m'homes but I have told them that £40 for 3 days EHU is monstrous!
