Hi all just wondered if anybody can help me I have a pro logic battery solar panel connect to my cab battery and it seams to keep it charged but today I purchased another one from AA which plugs 🔌 into my OBD port but I’m wondering which one is better in power ect These are the two I now have

The AA one at 2.4 w will be pretty useless. Personally I wouldn't bother with anything less than 10w.

Our 5w solar panel overcharges the car battery, I have to take it off otherwise it's at 15v for hours.. And it's behind the windscreen.

It depends what drains you have of course, the natural discharge of an unconnected battery is in the region of 2ma so if you have no drain whatsoever, virtually any panel will keep it topped up 👍

The AA one is 2.4W, and the PV Logic one is 4W, so the AA one is only 60% of the PV Logic one.

However I have found that a 2.4W panel can keep a starter battery topped up quite successfully, even over the winter. I had the panel attached inside the windscreen with suckers, and the vehicle was facing south in a good sunny position. It depends on the drain from always-on electronics, like an alarm or tracker.

Here's a more powerful 10w mini panel

You need to use the "BEER EQUATION"..

Whats best..

4 pints of beer or 2.4 pints (y)

I know my choice..

But then the deciding factor of amperage, not voltage !

Or in this case, 4 pints at 3% abv, or 2.4 at 7% abv, and then bring into the consideration on bladder capacity ! :drinks:(y)::bigsmile:
