Morning all does anyone have any experience using one of these small fill points, look much neater and easier to install than the older type.

But what would you connect to it to do the filling? LPG pumps have a very different type of nozzle.

Gasit are selling them as well with adapters to suit they are made to be installed under the fuel cap on lpg vehicles as far as i can tell so are more discrete.

You can also make up your own high pressure hose to suit your requirements.

An LPG nozzle and hose is quite heavy and I can see problems hanging that off a 10mm thread. You would also need adaptors for Europe, including the big dish adaptor used in France.

I can see the idea, the filling point next to the fuel filler on a car, but on a MH? I can't see the point but try it if you want. 😀

The nozzle screws down flat with the M10 thread so will be locating around the larger diameter of the nozzle so dont think you would have a problem there as the M10 thread will not be subject to any shear load and they are approved.

The M10 adaptor shown above also has the thread in the end so you can then screw your existing adaptors into it.

Our first van had a french dish , this had a 10mm hole into which different adapters were screwed .
It worked ok, it felt a little flimsy with weight of filling gun on it but worked fine.
In france no adapter was needed but elsewhere we screwed in an adapter.
I can see the attraction of such a small fitting but be mindful of where you mount it. In our case it was low down so weight of gun and hose was mostly on the floor.

Had that small filler on my first LPG car (Alfa GTV). Works fine and the weight of the filler nozzle didn't do any harm. The only drawback was having to screw in the spigot adapter at every fill up, which at 40k miles per year with a 90 litre tank was quite often.

Ours has one fitted & no issues do far.

Don't honestly see the point in them , the normal one is simple to fit and the smaller one that has its own bracket can be put somewhere out of sight.
These things look very flimsy.

I had one of these
on my last motorhome and it worked very well. It was a lot smaller than the standard UK filler but much more substantial than the one the OP has posted which looks rather frail. Bearing in mind filling pressures can be as high as 200psi I wouldn’t trust something looking that flimsy or cheap.

Yeah thats the one i have fitted now works well, have you seen the screw in filters you can now get worth thinking about.

Had that type on every van we have had, small & neat.

I haven’t bothered with an inlet filter but do have one to protect the regulator. The problems seem to come from condensates and residues coming out of the gas. Anything else that might get caught by an inlet filter should be left safely at the bottom of the tank when the gas boils off.

That's the one I use now, easy to fit and with it having 4 bolts it's very secure (obviously you have to make sure whatever you attach it to is strong enough to take the weight when the filler is attached).

This one, however, seems to be expensive compared to the cost elsewhere so check the prices before buying especially if you want the fittings for other countries.

Yep that is the one I have got. Pretty discrete I reckon

Second pic here shows it under the fuel flap.

Note the term "longfiller adapter". We found that the uk fillers that rotated were ok, but the ones with a lever needed a longer clearance which we did not have with our 10mm uk adapter fitted into the french dish which was our filler point.
So a filler recessed behind filler cap would need the extra long uk filler. Also need to make sure filler adapters were ok if fitting fill point i to a recess as behind fuel cap.
Its good to see a different viewpoint re fillers.

I considered fitting a small filler unit in the skirt but the gun and hose is heavy and fairly awkward to use and I didn't fancy having to attach it so low down and close to the ground. I also didn't fancy possibly having to kneel down on the grubby/wet/diesel soaked forecourt, probably why they don't put them low or in the 'skirt' on cars.
'Small and neat' wasn't a priority. My Gaslow filler fitting in the door isn't exactly large and ugly.

Yes I had a French/German acme on my van with 10mm centre thread. I obviously had to use adaptors both for here in spain , euroconnector & Uk with a baynett .I alwyas ensured that I parked the van close enough that I coud pull out excess hose & trap it under my foot befofe connecting the gun & could keep it trapped there & still press the button. I had no confidence in the 10mm thread with , not only the weight of the gun but the jolt as many do when starting/stopping.

Thats why I never hung mine as the strength in the pump hose return spring means it is always being pulled.

.Yes that is what mine had but I never trusted it to hang the gun on without the hose trapped under my foot preventing any pull on it or hose weight.

Neat idea but 2 self tap screws and then that elongated attachment looks to me like a recipe for something to break. The lpg filling guns are not light and there will be a fair bit of leverage.

I was thinking more bolting it, anyone know if the flat flush points like peterc10 has comes in white just I have never seen one myself ?

I've never come across a white one but it's only plastic so you could just spray paint it.
