Following on from the recent thread on noisy "Woosh Bang" doors thought I would ask Funsters what they lubricate their door runners with? At present I use a silicon spray but but after also reading recent thread on locks where they recommend Grafite Powder got me thinking.
Would a dry grafite powder be suitable for the runners.?

Shouldn't be oiled or greased as it collects dust and grit and increases wear in the long run but what to use ,I'm afraid I don't know, mine could do with something as well.

Yes chaser that is my feeling too... dont like using a spray of any sort, that's what got me thinking about something dry.

I used a dry PTFE spray on the runners when we had our PVC.

That certainly would appear to be a possibility.. thnx

I always slam twice, just to be on the safe side!

I use ordinary grease and yes it does collect dust but it is cleaned off and renewed when necessary. I use silicon spray on the door rubbers

I find giving them a good slam after 11pm keeps the runners clean (y)

Only if you hang a ribbon of Morris Dancer bells to the door, or is that just me, as an Oldie, still trying to be traditional??

Keep the stainless steel channels clean and don't put anything on them as it will attract dirt, a quick squirt of ptfe spray on the three white plastic wheel central bearings top and bottom should do it but wipe off any excess.

I usually find a high pellet spread shotgun works well to keep the whosh bangers quiet, makes a bit of a mess though ….but …. 😂

As others have said. Lube the roller bearings but do not lube the track. It will encourage the rollers to slide rather than rotate and you will end up with seized bearings and flats on the rollers.

OK Silly Question
How to Clean the accumulated black gritty shite without leaving it prone to rust (Before the ptfe spray)

When I was a good bit younger (ha!ha!) I worked on Automatic Car Washes.Obviously using grease was a no no so the bylon wheels were lubricated wth.......WATER!! Loads of that!
