skylights packed up (2 Viewers)

Hi,
Hope someone can point me in the right direction. I turned the handle on the skylight last night and it closed fine, ive gone to open it today and the handle turns and turns but the skylight doesnt rise up. Is this a common thing and is it, as I hope, an easy fix?

Has the handle come down from it's original position? it may just be missing the winding bar. On the other hand the inner shape of the handle that makes the bar move may have become stripped of it's shape, in which case it might be a new handle jobby!

the handle doesnt seem to have moved at all, just seems strange that it didnt start to slip or anything, just went from working normally to not working at all.
