HI All - we have a 2007 Autosleeper Eton and the main skylight has quite a number of dead flies in the void of the double skinned unit. They must have got in through a couple of tiny holes in the lower skin that don't have any stoppers in them (We've only had the van for a couple of weeks and just starting to use it).

There doesn't seem to be any other way of accessing the void between the inner and outer skins and I am stumped as to how to get these dead flies out - any ideas guys?

I have thought about drilling a larger hole that would allow me to get a hoover attachment in and suck them out (Using a rubber "plug" to then cover the hole) but I'm loath to start drilling in a unit that's now approximately 15 years old and may be a bit brittle.

Look forward to any advice.

Cheers

Steve

I had this problem, and never came up with the perfect solution.
My “invention” was to cut pin small enough to fit easily into the cavity - then use a magnet to manoeuvre the dead flies towards the plug - then they were easier to vacuum.
Issues:
I never got them all out
Over time the flies decomposed into finer “dust”
Dont forget to plug the hole to prevent further ingress
I don’t think I ever got the pin out.

And what solved the problem problem completely was when we sold the van!!

Thanks brynric, perhaps I'll leave it be until we can solve the problem permanently ;)
