Can anyone suggest a site or cl/cs near St Ives Cornwall.

We don’t need hook up but walkable into town is a must.
30 or 40 minute walk no worries.

Don’t need hook just fairly hard base to park on with a 7.2m MoHo

Try giving the rugby club a ring and see if they will let you stay there overnight, some football/ rugby clubs do down here.
There is a campsite called Hellesveor just outside St Ives, no idea how much though, all downhill into town but all up on the way backup, a bus will take you up to the big carpark and that shortens the the hilly bit.

Agree with Vanderek Polmanter is great they have a bus that goes down to town not sure if it runs in the off season, £1.50 each way worth it as the climb back up is like heart attack hill, best to eat the pasties first , good shower block (2) decent bar /rest not to pricey and an outdoor heated pool which was quite warm when we were there kids/adults still in it at 8.30ish late June .

Ayr Holiday Park. Expensive but walkable into town if you are very fit ?

I am not allowed back due to an honest TripAdvisor review ?
What was wrong with it can I ask? I’ve used it many times over the years and it’s good.
If I saw a review on trip advisor I would ignore it.

Ayr is lovely, views are amazing but like you say expensive! We stay there out of season whilst visiting family.
I was told a couple of months ago they had problems with ? ? ‘s

There were some , uuumm ....shall we say 'alternative living specialists' who took up residence in a St ives car park a few weeks ago for a couple of weeks but they were moved on then.

We were on the pitch at the bottom of the site which, although they were hard standing, had no provision for getting back up the grassy slope.

In wet weather, quite dangerous to walk up to the shower block and impossible to drive up without a tow from the very arsey owner.

I only stated the facts.

We normally attend a rally in the May bank hols on the rugby club fields, whilst there there are some mh that stay overnight some staying for several nights. We stayed over night prior to joining the rally last year but didn’t arrive till the early hours and had gone by 9am. Great downhill walk from the rugby club, passing the Ayr site on the way down. However, steep on way back. There is a bus during peak hols from rugby club, £2 return, down to the town. Unsure whether that runs outside of the summer.

Many thanks for the replies.

Looks like most places are booked up.
I’ve contacted the Rugby club and waiting for a reply so fingers crossed ?

Stayed here.. Liked it. lovely view.
8 mile from the centre of St Ives though so a hefty walk unless you have bikes?

Thanks for that

As you say hefty old walk especially on New Years Day around 1am ?

St Ives is a cracking destination for New Years parties... (y):drinks::drink::party:
My Bro usually invites me down as he is lead singer of a band and gets me in wherever he's playing but the little bugger has decided to depart the shire for the shores of Crete forever more now.. or until there's no money in training people to scuba dive that is :(
Enjoy!! (if you find somewhere to park)

We stayed on Hellesveor this year not cheap but liked it a lot

I was hoping to be a bit closer to St Ives ?

Surely you'll be wearing your beer coat at 2am and will therefore survive any type of arctic winter walk back to the van :D

Janine is 100% spot on, Ayr site has a fantastic position, views all the way up to Lundy Island on a clear day, truth is the view doesn't belong to Ayr, they are just lucky to have it.

The site is ok in the dry sunny days, add a little rain and the site becomes a quagmire, the one and only toilet block becomes a mud and grassy mess, caravans need to be towed off their pitch, motorhomes gets bogged down.

We had a pitch on Ayr site for 10 years and yes the the site was fantastic, unfortunately Chris the manager passed away and the owner diverted his attentions to other places and the site suffered big style.
We now stay on Polmanter a longer walk into St Ives but a much better run site.
