Up on the roof for the first time to give it a little clean and found a hole.
The hole is about 20mm dia and is in the plastic moulding over the cab on my AutoTrail.
I obviously need to fill it and reseal.
Happy to do it myself, as it is on the roof so wouldn’t be seen, but unsure wether I should be using a Sika product or Gel coat or even a combination filler and finishing product.

Any suggestions please.
TIA

a 20mm hole !! is quite big.. how deep is it? if its shallow and not broken through the skin i would used gel coat filler. follows easily and can be rubbed down to blend in.
sika i think would only be a temporary repair.

if its deep you may need to do a bit of patching..

There is about 3 or 4 mm of air behind the plastic.

looks as if there was a bubble under the gel coat and its cracked revealing the cavity. can you see the fibe matting underneath?

so it is a bubble under the gel coat. i would buy a proper gel coat repair kit, they are only about £10 - £15 and you get all the necessary bits for prep and rubbing down.

there are a few different types, here's an example of whats available.. <Broken link removed>

Excellent thanks. And a video on how to do it as well?
You need the RAL number that’s the colour code from Autotrail, or talk to East Coast and they might even know it.

Hi Ian, I had something similar on our Autotrail Imala 730 on the offside roof rail anchor point about the size of 20p got it done under warranty it seems they have a bad batch , it might be worth asking Autotrail if they would consider a claim.
