Afternoon Funsters

I've noticed a tiny trickle of water (spotted only after seeing a very small pool of water gathered underneath my water pump) which seems to be coming from the joint between the plastic fitting at the base of my Shuffle water pump.
Does anyone know from experience whether this is a common fault and fixable or if it's a whole unit replacement?
I've checked online and they're around £50 for a new complete unit, but just wondered whether there's a gasket/seal between the two plastic parts that are screwed together - or any alternative part replacement before I buy the complete unit?

I've circled where the leak is coming from to help identify what I'm on about.
Thanks a lot,
Gav

HAHA Bloody predictive text!
Title was meant to say Shurflo.

As I shurflo, I mean shuffle my arse in my chair typing this again!

It's just a gasket ...you can undo and smear a little sealent on etc reassemble

Repair kits are available for the pump. They consist mainly of diaphragms which is what has failed. There are no gaskets.

It's just a leak on the seal, take it apart give it a clean and back together again and it will be right, nothing to replace or required.

There is no seal as such the head just seals against the diaphragm and yes this is quite a common leak on these pumps.

I repaired mine with a smear of automotive HYLOMAR gasket cement.
While it says it is toxic the amount used will have no Ill effect unless your cackhanded and get it all over the inside of the pump.
A very thin smear with a fingertip to one face is all it needs.
Retighten the screws a little at a time in a cross sequence, don't just tighten one down then the next, it may warp the mating faces.

as above.. I use smear of silicone grease on the sealing faces.
Probably safer Jim, but working on engines I get more toxic substances in my mouth than I know what to do with..... Anti freeze, engine oil, brake fluid, gasket glue, petrol, you name it I get it on my hands and subsequently in my mouth and eyes... And I'm still sucking breath.

no doubt.. but having working in the food industry for several years I have a stock of food-safe lubricants and sprays .. ;)

Vaseline is also quite good and I think it's food -safe. ha ha

better safe than sorry (y)

Did mine last week. Same problem. Just undid it cleaned joint and smeared a bit of Vaseline on the joint.
Seems to have done the trick.

Hello all,

New Shurflo pump has arrived (I'm going to strip down old pump and clean as per advice on here thanks and keep it as a spare).

On the new pump body, it says recommended Slow blow fuse - 5amp.

Should I now purchase an inline fuser holder with a 5a slow blow fuse and connect this between the pump and power supply?

I don't recall seeing a fuse located nearby to the original pump currently fitted. (and can't look as van is kept in storage)
thanks
