No David, not all Canadians require you to kneel. I would go from seated to kneeling if there was a bit of bumpy water ahead or a tricky bit coming up. Then back to seated when back on smooth water.

I might canoe upstream from the showground with my dog and meet Martin et al somewhere - depending on how fast the river is. Unless there has been a lot of rain it should be manageable. I did row it many years ago.

The single kayaks are, as follows

I can answer this one for you... our fleet of single kayaks are Venture Flex 11 sit-in kayaks. These have a large cockpit and are hired without a spraydeck so there is no worry about getting stuck in them.

For the Canoe/Kayak trip, yes you have the choice but I would suggest if you have no previous experience you take the Canoe option.

I think that will be our plan then, pack a picnic, set off after the group has left in the mini bus and meet you on the river somewhere. Do you know where you are stopping for lunch from past experience, or just keeping your eye out for a suitable spot?

Sounds like a plan last time we did it we stopped in a field on our right about half way, difficult to be more specific though.

1st the bad news, we can't now attend this meet...now the good news, after a hospital appointment today my wifes consultant has finally given her a date (much delayed due to covid backlog) for an op ...it's happening July 6th! And what with a covid test and then 3 days isolation...

Sorry to miss this meet, we were both looking forward to it, should make someone pleased on the waiting list.
