Greetings,

Its that man again...!

Should I have the van hooked up 24/7? Or is a wee boost a few times a week sufficient? I currently have the former, but favour the latter, especially when cost is factored in and also the improving weather.

If you have a solar panel then don't bother just plug it in 24h before you go to get the fridge cold. If you don't have solar then plug in every couple of weeks to charge it up. That should keep the wee electricity bill down a few pence.

Ta, yes I do have a solar panel, quite a big one! Whether its working or not is another matter, how does a Newbie tell?

Do you have a multimeter/voltmeter.
Unplug hookup and leave unplugged
Stick it on the leisure battery during a sunny day it should read around 13.8v or more.
Then again an hour or two after dark, it should read around 12.6v/12.8v.

If it does its working

And if you dont have a meter.
Wait until the next day is going to be sunny and leave the telly and lights on at night to drain the battery.
See if it loads up the next day.
On our old van, we would be full for 2 batteries by 0800 in Cornwall in the summer months.
New van with 12 volt tv instead of 240 and we havent gone down to 50% in 2 years (yet)
