That's not correct (I mean dailymail)
The Junta de Andalucia states that restaurants or bars can charge different price (if previously announced), depending on if you are being served inside the local or in the terrace. Nothing to do with shade or sun.

Perhaps Jim can take this down, if it's misinformation.

I did a research in Spanish in Google, because it did sound weird to me and found out what I just replied.
Don't worry if it's misinformation, that's the good thing in this forum, to have a debate and more sources to contrast and create your own opinion.
I believe it's a bad translation from dailymail.
Nothing bad about the thread itself (y)

Or maybe the DM published a few days early? 😉

I can't see why it would be that surprising even if what was in the daily fail was true ( however unlikely!).
If some tables are more sought after than others why shouldn't you pay more just the same as you pay more for better seats at a theatre.I think in the UK we commonly have the strange idea that what your paying for in a restaurant is just the food. I suspect that forms a very small part of the final bill.

Always been like that in France, 3 price levels, at the bar, sitting down inside & on the terrace.

I think Jim should leave it up as an example of misinformation and to be wary about trusting what you read on the internet. Also shows the value of this place in that misinformation will be caught and pointed out. Brilliant thread.

I’m sure I noticed another ‘tax’ in Spain. Some bars, less in the glass if British than locals. ? Might be just me being suspicious or paranoid and being used to a full pint in the UK.

And I found once it gets to a certain time of evening prices went up too?

I always understood that in Spain standing at the bar eating and drinking was the cheapest way to eat and drink, then inside, then more for the terrace as it would take longer to serve and clean the tables.

I suspect it's partly that but mainly because everyone likes to sit outside if it's nice weather. It's supply and demand.

I really regret posting this now. Perhaps I'll stick to just asking questions.
