This might sound a bit daft, but we have a AVANTGARDE 140 which is just perfect and so spacious but my husband often says he wishes there was a second armrest for the driver, there is a left arm one and of course the door is at the other, but does anyone know of such a thing that could be attached to the seat or door without interfering with opening & closing of the cab door ? Hope you can help.

Yes - at a price.
Regal put armrests on but with the loss of lumbar support adjustment.

Our Ducato has two arm tests on both cab seats. I use mine all the time , makes holding the stearing wheel a whole lot more comfortable .
I seldom use the hand break so not a problem, if I due I simply shove it up with my elbow as I apply the hand break.

Ours has only the one, it’s a pain!
They were covered by Regal but they didn’t add the extra arm.

I should have thought it would be possible.

Our first van - a 2004 Rapido - came with double armrests on the driver's and passenger's seats as standard.

Looking at the photo of your van it appears as though it's a similar base Ducato circa 2002-2006/7 - so I don't see why not. But obviously no idea what it would cost?

Lack of adjustable twin armrests on the front seats of a camper would, unfortunately, be a deal-breaker for me. They do make long distance driving more comfortable IMHO. Likewise, when the chairs are swivelled around for relaxing.

Good luck sorting it out. (y)

I added a second one to my Van, it gets in the way when I turn the seat but other than that it’s great.

Our last van had two armrests on each seat but the current one has single armrests. I think it depends on the make / model of swivel seat installed.

I was dubious at first but now when lounging I often don't bother with the arm rest at all now. I'd prefer to have a footrest (I usually use the step stool thingy with a cushion on it as a foot rest).

When travelling I like the armrest and the door gives me the second armrest.

I had Regal put additional armrests on my Vantage front seats. It requires the seats to be removed and the upholstery stripped to enable a plate to be welded to the frame. When rotating the drivers seat the armrest has to be down to slide under the steering wheel. Although the lumber controller knob is lost the actual lumber system is tucked into the back of the seat and can still be adjusted if necessary with a bit of a struggle involving the seat back cover. In discussion with Regal I set my lumber at maximum before they reassembled the seat covering and I have not needed to attempt any further adjustment. Regal are the original upholsters for Vantage and have done this many times on various vans and have the operation down to a fine art. They will give you a fixed price for the job, I am very pleased to have had mine adapted and would recommend them.
The reason a lot of UK motorhomes have only one arm is because that is how Fiat UK specify
delivery for standard UK vans which converters buy from stock.

Hi try feeling for the 3 stud holes where the armrests fit 👍You don't have to take any upholstery off simply feel for the stud holes and get the proper size studs, slit a small cut to allow studs and screw them on. The nuts are already fitted to seats and the studs are 8mm or 10 mm by about 15/20 mm long ....they are in the same place opposite your other armrest 😉 take one out of your armrest for size

and if you've got the "mirror" armrest (ie on the right-hand side) of the passengers seat you could unscrew that and fit to the right-hand side of the drivers seat.

Also scraper may be your friend 👍

Our Rienza is Mk6 Transit based and only has arm rests on the inside of the seats. Our Duetto based on a Mk5 Transit had two arm rests. I was told they only fit the inner ones for safety reasons not to restrict getting out of the doors.
I can rest my arm on the door but it’s hard shiny plastic so it’s not to comfortable. The motorhome we hired in New Zealand was based on a Mk6 Transit and had a padded cover on the door. Nothing like that here that I can find.
