I have a 6 berth Motorhome but only seat belts for 4. Can I fit 2 additional seat belts?

Probably very hard to do as they need special mounting frames bolted to the chassis.?

and the V5 would need to changed.

I tried to have this done and no one will do it. If they failed the lawsuit would not be small. You could do it yourself but they would only be an illusion.

This is something that infuriates me, why oh why do the manufacturers do this?
I do hope this isn’t going to be a big problem for you.

An aquaintance of mine is looking at a 7 berth something or other... At 3500kg :D2
Can't get it into her thick head there won't be 7 seat belts or the weight ability to carry 7 people.
Her reply.... Why is it 7 berth then.

I almost bought a 6 berth but it only had 2 seat belts. I don't know how they expected to sell it. But then someone did buy it, may not have thought about it until it was too late.
We used to carry people without belts on a side facing bench but only on short trips around town at low speed but even then it worried me.

I'm at Cardiff and there's a vintage VW split screen nearby, parents and three lovely kids under seven who must roll around in the back when on the road.
I've no idea if the parents even think of the consequences of an accident, but they're happy giving the old girl a polish.

We bought a 6 berth so we could take our grandchildren away with us. It had only 4 seatbelts but was advertised as having 6. Thankfully we were able to have 2 lap belts fitted to the rear facing seats. it wasn't cheap though.

Mine has 3 berths but 4 seat belts......bloody Germans

Most manufacturer fitted seat belt arrangements are attached to heavy steel frames under the seat base, which in turn are bolted though the floor and (a) Chassis member below. It May be technically possible dependant upon layout to replicate the Frame and Make the necessary attachment thorough a chassis member, But I would argue that would only be for Lap Belts if at all. (better than nothing). We had the issue only once when ALL the grand-kids wanted to come with us, to the Lincoln Steam Fair rally. As it was a one off we got round it by SWMBO, following behind with 4 Kids fully belted in her car. The eldest rode up front in the R-V and the other was in the lap belted seats in the dinnette.

Because it was mis-sold. If 7 people take it over MTPLM then it is over-loaded and that may cause suspension damage when stationary.

Got eight belts in ours, two lap and diagonals on the front two seats and six lap only belts. Can only sleep six though. :gum:

Only ever use the front two though, 'cos there is only two of us.

Quite unlike most cars, where they are bolted to a thin bit of metal.

The problem is the upper attachment. The two lower ones can be bolted through the floor to a steel cable that attaches to the chassis. The upper one needs to be at least as strong but there's nowhere nearby near to fix it. Hence the massive frames.

I think lots of people like ourselves buy larger berth vans for more space for two people rather than sleeping four or six folk.
I know we did it for the space no intention of taking anyone else.?

Maybe another layout in the same model had 4 berths and they did not change the seating for yours.
I dont think so, the other model has a wardrobe instead, but the 3 is really 2.75. I slept on it once, but the cab seat is more comfortable

Exactly this, our last MH was 7.1mts 4 berth, but only 2 belted seats, suited us great as there was just 2 of us and all the space we needed :)

We did the same & that's OK but it's yet more dishonest advertising that doesn't help a family looking for a 4- or 6-berth van. No one would buy a four door car expecting to find only 2 belts.

Apparently, however it is the manner in which they are fixed that gives superior strength, apart from "doubling" support in the adjacent area,. they are set up in such a way that the stress forces are largely shear forces in nature and able to withstand far more load than is apparent in first view.
