Heading to Scotland for about three weeks and thinking of doing the Dundee to Fraserburgh area, a part of Scotland we’ve not really done.
Any recommendations of places not to miss and any nice wild camps.
Thanks

Stonehaven nice, CAMC site v expensive and busy so you’d need to book but on the shore short walk to town and also walk over to Dunnottar Castle.

Take the slow coastal route & grab some real Arbroath smokies as you go.

At the far end of your route, go just past Fraserburgh to Rosehearty. The community boat club runs a small "aire" next to Harbour & The Davron Hotel is good option for food.

Big beaches (as well as some dramatic, rugged coastline) & 'proper' links golf courses everywhere (if that's your thing).

Few "no overnight parking" restrictions on beach parking AFAIK but check Park4night
Several NTS Castles to visit in Aberdeenshire, as well as the impressive Pitmedden gardens.
Will be much less crowded than NC500 and loads of variety. A few ideas on (commercial) NE250 and visitabdn sites

Heading towards Dundee is Aberdour silver sands, nice wee local pub and beautifu beach. £2 for car park in summer but in winter I believe its free. No facilities though local toilet at the beach.

Banff links and Portsoy are both great sites right on the beach and Port Errol harbour Aire is really good and easy walk to slains castle, all 3 are easy walking to shops bars and restaurants

Cruden bay is lovely. Am interesting detour is Peterhead Prison Museum - my daughter teaches at Peterhead Central and she took her class there last week and said it was really interesting, if a bit horrifying. She’s a history graduate so likes these things 😂.

If your daughter likes these things take her to Jedburgh, the old jail there is very interesting.
