You must use official sites because it's the law and the police will shoot you and crush your van if you don't squeeze into a tiny space, next to total strangers, in line with all the other vans.
If people park anywhere they like in higgledy piggerly fashion at beautiful, quiet places, then the campsites will have to close because of lack of business.
These freedom loving motorhomers using their vans to the full and finding their own "special" places are just spoiling it for the rest of us...

More cycle tracks, as opposed to rough ground. Have electric city bikes. Love the pictures.
Good choice of Spain to visit, as jumartoo has said, perhaps our biking could be different to what you are looking for...most coastal locations can be linked with prepared cycleways and quiet roads....source Wikilok, install it on your smartphone or tablet use Park4Night and you have exactly the same information we have..have fun.....although we live in a different part of Spain, Galicia remains a big favorite of ours...More cycle tracks, as opposed to rough ground. Have electric city bikes. Love the pictures.

We're in galicia at the moment and loving it. On the port in Foz. Temperatures are in the mid twenties and cooler at night. Lots of opportunities to park up in wonderful places. People lovely. Food and drink so much cheaper that UK.

TM59 We personally stop for long periods if we like the area and always use campsites but we visited Galicia on an 8 week tour in September 2018 with the driest weather for years! We tried to follow the Camino as much as possible in an 8m van from Roncesvalles to Santiago as well as wanting to do some particular things. We walked as we camped and engaged with the Pilgrims. I will list a few places we would not miss: Pamplona for the history & the bull running fame, camped on outskirts & bussed it in but could easily ride in. Logrono for the tapas, we camped at the site in the city walking distance from the centre. Castrojeriz, a Templar village on the Camino, camped in the centre & walked, cycled a lot. The Casa del silencio on the Camino in the village is a fantastic place to visit & experience the tranquility as well as the Camino museum in the old church. Templar castle gives great views over the plain. Santiago de Compostela, camped in the city, bus to the centre. What a fantastic place to visit, we were blown away at the Cathedral pilgrims service & all the cities splendour. We ended up spending 3 weeks camping on the Atlantic coast at Louro & dolphin watching, walking, cycling & enjoying the pure tranquility of the area. We then tried to visit & camp in Lugo on our way East to walk the Roman walls, which I believe are one of the last complete sets left. Unfortunately a fair was taking place in the city’s camper stop so couldn’t even park & the only other MH car park, inside the walls, was too difficult for me to get into. What we saw has made us decide to go back. Our stop off in the Picos was the icing on the cake, we camped and waited at Potes until we could get a private guided tour into the Park, which allowed us to walk the Cares Gorge. Unbelievably satisfying walk in the National Park and we also visited the famous Roman Bridge in a Cangas de Onis, easy parking on road out of town heading to Potes. Last 2 places to visit were recommended by a Spanish couple we met in Galicia, one of Spain’s most beautiful villages, Comillas and a medieval village, Santillana del Mar where there are ancient cave paintings in a museum setting. We camped at Caravaning Oyambre Cantabria and caught the bus to both from outside the site. Hope this gives you some food for thought. If you wanted to see photos then look on my Instagram account RKT480 for the time we were there & all the places we stopped. We absolutely loved that tour which was all new to us despite our many years of touring Spain looking for somewhere to live and then motor homing.Hoping to tour Galicia first week of September. jumartoo any recommendations of places to visit/stay would be appreciated We both enjoy cycling and walking.

What is the MT ?I normally do a thread, but I didn't this year. I admit I do get despondent at the lack of posts I get.
However. I've posted daily on the MT and so have lots of photos. I give you some here ...

Fabulous day out on the scooter today from Foz to Ribadeo along all the little coast roads. Lots of opportunities to wild camp. We were a little worried about finding places in August, but it's not a problem in this part of Spain. Unless you want a campsite....they are rammed. Some pics of our day out and lunch...scallops, calamari and salad. It was delicious
