Anyone know the difference between the garmin motorhome sat nav and the acted one ?

Probably quite a lot as regards route planning and mapping. Garmin uses base amp to plot routes which can be then loaded onto the sat nav or sent to others.
This may not be what you want or need but I use it all the time. Mostly to plan motorcycle tours and send to mates I tour with.
I can look back over the years to see all my tours if I want to.
None of them are perfect, they’re just another tool.
I think Garmin are the only ones to have the mapping facility.

My Avtex 660 and 770 Satnav are powered by, and updated by, Garmin. It does have campsites information. Not sure if that’s unique. Qualification: the 770 hasn’t updated for about 12 months, instantly disconnects at any attempt

Believe Avtex sat navs are just a rebadged Garmin models however with additional POI's \ functionality pre-loaded.

The Avtex Tourer Two user manual is titled "Camper 780 / RV780 / Avtex Tourer Two the first two being Garmin models.

As said Avtex tourer one is a rebadged Garmin 770 , well not even rebadged it’s still says Garmin on it.

Does it update easy as normal garmins I use the 61 garmin at the moment but wanting an upgrade now as it’s a few years old and best as a spare one

Yes no problem , I do it on the WiFi setting

I think the avtex one is a rebadged garment but the avtex is £100 more money

Hi solaris you may want to try updating your 770 with the latest version of Garmin Express. I have had a problem ticket open with Garmin for the past 8 months due to my 770 failing to update, was updating my Nuvi at the weekend and thought I would give the 770 another go with the latest version of Express and it finally worked like a charm. It will also correctly connect via wireless for updates now. So looks like the issue may have been resolved, not that Garmin have ever gotten back to me about it.

I've got a Garmin Edge 130 cycle satnav ..... I'd never buy Garmin again. They change the software more often than I change bedsheets and it takes five button presses just start off.

Hi SteveJ. Sorry about delay in responding. There’s an update option on garmin express, but needless to say I keep getting the message‘download failed’. reluctant to delete and try reinstalling as can’t find express in App Store and the 660 updates perfectly. And we’re not building many new roads here at present so not too much of an issue I guess just annoying

I think you have to download Express from Garmin's website rather than the app store.

Hi solaris I have had issues with Express updating on Windows in the past. It is a very badly written piece of software and I have found that if you are jumping a few versions it sometimes throws it's toys out of the pram and refuses to update. In those cases I uninstall, reboot, download latest version from the Garmin website and reinstall. That usually sorts the problem out.
Not sure if it displays the same behaviour on Macs.
To be honest if I didn't want to use Basecamp I wouldn't bother with Express as I can do updates via wireless, but the only way to install maps to Basecamp is via Express.
Express downloads , both Windows & Mac, can be found on the Garmin website, don't download from anywhere else as there are some dodgy sites that purport to be valid downloads but aren't . https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/software/express/windows/
