I'm a newbie
Good evening,
I am currently in the motorhome for the first time in 3 years (covid, moving house twice and retiring!)

I forgot to bring the Sky box so just tuned the sat box and watching it through the avtex tv.
Problem is I am not getting all the UK Freesat terrestial channels that I would get if I had the box, including a lot of the +1 channels.

Is this normal or am I doing something wong?

Picture of my TV sat settings attached for info, any help greatly apreciated,
Thanks,
Lloyd

Sounds like either you have not performed a channel scan recently (channels come and go and change frequencies), or that your unit is not scanning all the frequencies (it may only be scanning the frequencies the unit has pre installed, and not all the frequencies that are active)...
change ""search" to another option like satellite, and maybe even go into "advanced" and see if it has a "blind" scan or "nit / network" search option, so it does a full scan of all the frequencies on the satellite.

I understood that Avtex don’t receive full range of Freesat/Freeview due to Avtex not paying for certain licenses. We get more through a digital antenna than from the dish.

Well they will not get the Freesat EPG and firmware if they do not pay for it, but no need to pay for "licenses" the scan for all the free to air channels (approx 200), with quite a few not on Freesat anyway

One of the main reasons we got an external FreeSat box. Couldn't come to terms with the "now and next" EPG on the TV decoder.

Hi LPB

The older Avtex TV's do have a blind scan option. In the picture you've attached where it says "Search: Transponder" you can scroll left/right when highlighted on it and it should change to "full" which is the blind scan.
The Avtex TV doesn't have access to the Freesat EPG (as has already been mentioned) however Avtex did fix the first 20/25 listings on certain software versions so that the home channels were always in the right order however since certain channels have moved half of these preset channels don't actually work any more. The working versions will still be in the list but further back and you can move them around using the "edit channels" option under the satellite part of the TV setup page.

Thanks to all for the replies.
I think I have made some progress by rescanning the channels (several times).
I do have lot more channels but not any ITV channel's, what could cause that?
I should add I am in the UK near Gatwick.
Thanks,
Lloyd

ITV made a lot of changes a while back but you shouldn't be missing all of them even if the transponder list in the TV is out of date.
Easiest thing to do is load a preset list. If you go to TV setup, go to the picture of the satellite, go to advanced setup and enter the code 0000 then you will enter the advanced setup screen. If the bottom option is channel with load to/from usb next to it then email me at: anthony@oystersat-tech.co.uk and I'll send you my list to load. There's no scanning involved, my list will update everything for you and hopefully restore viewing on all channels.

I think I would benefit from that that, any chance I could have a copy please? Gladly supply a blank USB stick or reimburse you ant expense involved.

I usually ask Avtex for their latest satellite program list about once a year, they usually supply an downloadable file attached to my email
Please try the latest channel list attached.

1) Place the .sch file on a USB stick (you cannot open this file only the TV can)

2) Insert the USB stick into TV and switch on in satellite mode

3) Press Channel menu and select Advanced Setup (password 0 0 0 0)

4) Select bottom option and make sure set to "Load FROM USB" and press OK

5) Wait for the Success method, latest channel list will now be present on the set

Sorry @Newfi no file attached.

Yes sorry I don’t have an up to date file I’ll try to add last years if that helps

Can’t seem to download it on here sorry

I have been sent a copy of the updatefile.sch from Avtex recently. I'm not sure if its the same file for all models but am happy to email it to anyone if they contact me at cks@sky.com
It makes watching the tv so much easier - I assume it's only for the satellite channels as I haven't tried freeview.
I tried to upload it here but it's not an allowed format apparently!

cheers
Chris

I also always turn the TV off after a successful load as I've had the channels go jumbled before a couple of times. Turning the TV off and back on again after loading the list seems to help.

emjaiuk I have a file I build which I'll send you on an email. You then load the list as described above (I will send instructions on the email as well) using your own USB stick.

I would, as a side note please ask that people stick to emailing me if they would like a copy as it's very difficult to keep track of who's who what with the screen names. Anyone who wants a copy please email me and I'll gladly forward you a copy. Also please note this list will not work on the Avtex Smart TV. That's a different list with a different way of loading.

Thank you and apologies for the delayed response.
Unfortunately my last option that menu is “easyfind” which is on.
Thanks for your help,
Rgds,
Lloyd.

Good morning LPB

Ok well it's not the end of the world but I'm afraid you would need to speak to Avtex directly as the TV will require a software update before you can load the latest channel list. There are multiple software versions for Avtex TV's so it's well worth talking to them before you try anything yourself. The customer services number is 02920847670.

Have you tried a software update on your TV?
If you put your TV model & serial number into their download page it will give you your specific update to download onto usb.

ive lost a lot of channels on my oyster regards

Hi angusboy

Been a few channel movements recently so the receiver may need a retune. If it's an Oyster digital system you have then how to do this can be found in the manual or you can ring me for a helping hand but if it's a standalone receiver or a Sat TV then best bet is to contact the manufacturers support to see if they have an update file they can send you.

Hello Anthony,

I have a similar situation to angusboy, I phoned Avtex this afternoon and a very helpful chap informed me that there is a software update for our Avtex 187DRS, they’re sending me a memory stick with the latest software and printed instructions.
I’ve always found Avtex very helpful.

Thank you Anthony

Chris
