i think my Garmin is on its way out.

What’s everyone using these days for Europe sat navs or a tablet with an app.

I thaught I would ask before I spend and I’m open to recommendations.

Get a proper android tablet. Some of those overpriced things with an apple on don't have gps so wont work.
I use a cheap lenovo tablet which works fine with copilot rv.

Is there a particular model you would recommend. I thought they would all have GPS these days.

I think all android ones have gps. Lenovo seems good for the price Samsung are good but more expensive).

Get a radio with Android Auto / Apple CarPlay. Then just use Google Maps from your phone. Less devices to worry about. No new data issues.

They are the world's leader in satellite navigation, what makes you think that?

I agree, it’s actually broken I think.

Been trying to update the MAPs and it’s crashed, the actual Sat Nav will not boot up at all now.

Email came this morning I thought a good offer.

Always used a TomTom and on my 4th which is the Go Essential, big improvement on the previous one as it has Bluetooth and WiFi.
All the old ones are still working.

Aguri for me, with dashcam. Just updated software and map database, very simple.

Garmin for me. Both for motorbike (660) and motorhome (760). I can’t get on with Tom Tom. I have just this week updated both. I did need a new SD card in the bike one as not enough memory left. I also use Basecamp a lot to pre plan routes.

iPad with Sygic
Do you need data and gps with the iPad, or can it run just gps.

Any problems in Europe with iPad or tablets.

We have an iPad Pro with both wifi & cellular and both run independently. If you don’t have data card facility you will need to be connected to WiFi.

When we thought about satnav function we just decided to use our 5" Samsung smartphone with its GPS receiver and a satnav programme loaded(a free one we got, which is Polish but works well all over Europe)

We mount it close enough to driver to be easily viewed and passenger can reach it also, to answer phone.

It is the cheap-n-cheerful solution, without spending money on a new appliance, just a satnav programme to load into the phone.

I-Pad Pro (with GPS) with the new TomTom Go App. Costs just £18 a year.
Ours is stood up on the dash in a leather stand case.
Great and good graphics.
I think all Europe maps is £5 extra.
Mitch.

Noza Tec or Xgody 7"
Under £40
Mine lasted 2 months and packed in :( ...it also tried to take me under low bridges a few times despite having truck dimensions set.

Bought an ordinary tomtom for £79
And used it everyday in Spain Portugal last year for 9 months and 4 months so far this year and I can count less than 10 times where I've got in to bother.

I can't justify the £300 for a unit supposed to be for campers etc .

I have gps enabled iPad so it can take SIM card, but I don’t have a sim init I just tether to iPhone or mifi.

I use a Doris, sits on the passenger seat, gives full voice commands, makes tea, washes up, not too accurate but very quaint, cheap to run, produces great kids and therefore great grandchildren and puts up with me.

Whats not to love?

Ah, but can you unplug her when you've had enough?

Sometimes wish mine came with a “mute” function :LOL::LOL:

I previously tried a cheap Lenovo tablet with Copilot but unfortunately the volume of the spoken directions wasn’t loud enough and the factory fit radio doesn’t have an auxiliary input socket to play the instructions through the radio.
