Sounds like £3.75 an hour to be a general dogs body with a GCSE A* in English maths.. As Richard and Ann say, it is a very restricted set of skills in a very restricted jobs market.

I read it as needing gcse A star TO D not necessarily just A so you you don't really need hardly anything.

Yes chaser that is how it read to me too suggesting they would employ a general dogs body with A* English and maths for £3.75 an hour...;)(y)

Great post Machzoneman !!

This will attract applicants from the lower end if the GCSE grades who are unlikely to move onto A levels and higher paid "first" jobs.
£3:90 an hour (which is the national minimum wage for an apprentice) for a young person with no employment skills and will require another staff member to train and pass on their skills, reducing their productive time, is no great but will allow Salop Leisure to offer a young person a job. Salop Leisure will also have to pay for the apprentice to attend Nottingham College on block release which is likely to also require accommodation etc.
I applaud Salop Leisure for offering a "leg up" to a young person and hope they end up with a well trained member of staff for the future.
Having said that, it is a small job sector and other apprenticeships may offer better future job prospects. But not everyone wants to be a plumber, electrician or engineer.
