Could anyone share their experiences with Saga before I change insurance company please

We had a caravan insured with them a few years ago. We thought we might store it in Spain , but I thought I would check with the insurance first. To cut a long story short, they suspended our insurance for asking the question - they said we might do it regardless now we’d asked! Left us with no insurance whilst we were abroad, & I was lucky to get insurance from another company that were happy to let us store it abroad. Wouldn’t touch saga with a barge pole after that!

they have recently changed the insurance provider so i cant say how good they are but i needed to insure my car my own insurance company AA quoted me £278 and Sagas Quote was £132 for the same cover although the motorhome quote was much dearer than my camc insurance

I have taken the 3 year option with saga for motorhome which was cheaper (same cover) my renewal with Safeguard. The problem i had was because i park in a private car which is not locked a lot of insurance companies would not insure as classed as parked on road, the 3 year option saves me the mither of shopping about for a while.

We've got the three-year option too. Took it out because we were hoping to go to Morocco and they do the green card for free. We were insured with them about 8 years ago and had a claim which they handled very promptly and with no problems.

We moved from Safeguard to Saga 2 years ago under the 3 year price guarantee scheme. We too were hoping to go to Morocco & the free green card together with lower premiums swung it for us.

Just (3 weeks ago) swapped to SAGA from AA for the car SAGA Plus was £150 cheaper than AA with whom I'd been for 5 years. Only time will tell if it was a wise decision.

Just renewed - 2nd year of the 3 year price freeze. Whilst chatting to them it appeared that I could have actually got this years cover at a lower price...............................!

But whatever - it was still far cheaper than the Comfort quote I got last year, even without the "free" Morocco Green Card.

We used to be with them and they were fine but they have or certainly had a maximum value of about £80k.

Are you still hoping to go to Morocco? Give us a shout if you fancy some company

Would love to go to Morocco, but can't see it being possible this year. I was reading this morning, that there will be no ferries operating to Morocco from Spain this summer. The only possibilities are from Italy and from Sete in France. There are political problems between Spain and Morocco. I hope they sort it out before the winter.

They have always been much more expensive than Comfort Insurance for me

I was with them for 5 years during which time the cost rose drastically, I changed to comfort which put the cost back down again.

We are hoping to head for Croatia for 90 days, next year hoping for 90 days Greece then 90 in Bulgaria perhaps. But still praying for a non lucrative visa

Just renewed for second year. It's come down over £100.

Not had a claim and fingers crossed will never have to find out how good they are on a pay out.

Proof of the pudding is when it comes to making a claim. We were clipped by a van in Austria and Saga rang us before we called them as the other driver had reported it. Outstanding service and claim dealt with in a heartbeat. All our vehicles are now insured with Saga and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them on past performance.

Interesting, both cars are due for insurance renewal shortly and I'm going to contact them to see what they can offer.

Don't just go by the website call them and then beat them up for more discount, never fails for me.

Joined them recently. Best price plus 365 days Europe🤔 that would be good and green card to boot

Hi all

Picking up my new (to me) Motorhome next week. Have been trying to sort through the minefield of insurance. Quotes are quite varied, but one thing that has been mentioned is the Breakdown assistance part, which I want to include. I have been told that some breakdown services have a height / weight restriction which only comes to light if there is a breakdown. Do most people take breakdown separate from insurance or what? Any advice gratefully received.

I have switched to Saga this year from Safeguard with whom we have been since our first motorhome in 2003.
We have plans to tour Morocco at some point and Safeguard would not entertain it whereas Saga do.

I am just a bit miffed to say the least with Saga at the moment... I informed them of a no fault claim ( no really 100% not my fault.. some idiot did a 3 point turn in the road and hit the car when they reversed ) when I was a named driver on my MIL's car and insurance as one is supposed to as my renewal notice has come through and I am on their 3 year fixed premium deal and they have the cheek to try to put up my premium by £60! Told them to stuff it.... however cant find anything anywhere near as cheap so might have to eat humble pie and accept it!
How can a completely no fault claim cost me!

We have been with Saga for 13 years no problems .

Over the years we’ve been with Saga on and off for motorhome, car and home insurance. Only one claim and that was for hailstone damage to the motorhome roof and this was settled without any fuss.

Car insured with Saga & had a bump in France rang them, they asked was car driveable-yes, but won’t be back in UK for month or more-ok they said let us know when you’re back.
Back in UK they gave us a car and fixed ours no problems.

SAGA sorted a new Aclass windscreen with no bother (pennies less tan £3k).

However, I am avoiding the 3-year offer, as it costs approx 15% more than the standard premium. I'm gambling that policy prices go up less than that.

Breakdown for me is via NationWide flexPlus current account: now £13 pm (=£156pa) which provides European cover for upto 7.5T/8m MH as well as worldwide health cover plus phone insurance.

We were with Saga but when we changed to an address with parking on the road, at the end of a cul de sac, they wouldn’t insure it.

Cover and claim experience is my baseline to accept a new contract.
Price comes second place with me.

Been with SAGA for many years. I drove our old 640 Starline into the very large boulder that sits in the middle of the aire at Saint Jean de Luz. Claimed and fixed in the UK with no fuss.
