Just got my renewal from Safeguard although ok with the price just over £500 ,I noticed a few things wrong on the renewal form first I was limited to 3000 mile previously unlimited so they changed that to 6000 mile with a breakdown of 3500 uk 2500 eu evidently Unlimited mileage isn’t available now . There was no mention of any record of any modifications done to the motorhome ie bigger wheels, tow bar and a increase in revenue weight not a problem I guess unless I had an accident so the purpose of this posting is just to check your renewal form when it comes . The reason for all the omissions was given is they have changed insurance underwriters and have started using a new computer system that has lost a lot details so best to check up I think . Sorry if this is old news . ?

Shop around its a competitive area. I have been with A/Flux £230-8k miles -plenty more to choose from.

Thanks Chris, but there are a few medical conditions for the wife that bangs the price up so the price I can live with it was just the missing and changed conditions that was a concern.

I’d best check my own documentation when it arrives. I renewed the other day, no mention of mileage restrictions... in fact I asked them if everything was the same as last year and they said yes, apart from the change of underwriters and that Morocco was no longer included at all - last year it was, albeit without recovery.

You should check ANY insurance renewal notices carefully, it's clearly stated that it is your responsibility - and is yet another way of the insurance companies being able to get out of a claim (says the old cynic!). Although to be fair, Comfort always go through the form again completely rather than just ask if anything has changed.

Just in the middle of renewing our house insurance and noticed a couple of "discrepancies" that I'll need to mention when I call. Hopefully they shouldn't cause any increase in the premium - which for a change beats hands down any internet quote I've got.

I had the same thing when I renewed with Safeguard earlier this year. They told me last year that there was a new computer system and I had to go through everything in detail, but this time a few things had changed so I called them again. I can't remember what they all were but do remember

1. The unlimited mileage was no longer available;
2. They no longer have a "secure storage" option for where you keep your motorhome - they just want the postcode. Which must mean there's no longer a reduction in premium for using a CaSSOA site like the one my campervan is kept in :(.

We have been with Safegaurd since getting out first Motorhome, renewed with Comfort which was far better value.

Doesn’t do any harm ringing around especially if premium hiked up due to medical conditions.

We’ve just renewed with Safeguard after ringing round the other contenders. Ours also said a 3000 miles limit which wasn’t there last year, upped it to 10k miles half in Europe and the premium went down by £70 ?

i received my renewal from Safeguard yesterday its gone up £105 to £455.30 from last year and they have increased my windscreen access from £100 to £300. Policy details are all wrong inc my driving test pass date and my NCD.
i have just been on the ITS motorhome insurance site and received a quote of £245.28,
so with that i called them to speak to an agent who confirmed unlimited screen cover with £100 access. I have to call Peter Banks insurers tomorrow, quote my reference number to complete the purchase.

With Comfort. They are the only insurer who appear to be honest and upfront. Since safeguard went under the Swinton umbrella prices and terms are very poor. Comfort are the first insurer I have been with for 3 years continuously. Shop around there's plenty of choice.

Are you taking into account the fact that Safeguard's policy includes European breakdown cover?

I think It's Insurance is a price comparison site??

Cant find any trace of Peter Banks insurers online.

Remember that it is not just the legal necessity to insure that matters; it is what happens in the event of a claim that is important as well.

Safe travels.
