Sad to be oldfor a month each in June and September

Just got my renewal from Red pennant which has gone up from £374 to £1056, obviously because I have reached the Golden age of 80, do any of my fellow octogenarians have a secret Insurance company who don't feel that we will die on our next foreign visit?. We have never made a claim, and go for a month each in June and September, having survived oesophageal cancer for 15 years, and both of us being reasonably healthy we resent this sudden attack, surely a sliding scale would be fairer than the cliff edge. Keep safe, and alert ( there is a joke about " what is alert" )but i can't remember it .

All I can tell you that every year come renewal time I do the search
Red Pennant is always either the dearest or near as damit the dearest

Is that what they call customer loyalty, ? it took us years to get my dad away from an insurance company that had robbed him for years. ?
When your young your high risk, and have no experience.
When your middle aged your wise, and find the best the best quotes.
When your old you have plenty of experience, but they feel you might not be a customer much longer, so we will fleece you. ?

I use Comfort , very happy with them . Have to confess though I’m only 61 so can’t speak with much authority about their view on Octegenarians.

Think you might have misunderstood - but am prepared to be wrong.
Red Pennant is the CMC very comprehensive breakdown & health insurance scheme - not vehicle insurance. Had a look when I was doing my renewal recently, to get cover I wanted from them cost was stupid (I'm 71). Wasn't aware Comfort did health cover, theirs is breakdown I believe, used them for years until they suddenly got expensive. Ended up with Saga who seem unfazed by age.

Red Pennant can include medical cover in addition to breakdown making a complete package, which I guess is what the OP has. ?
