Cleaning the roof yesterday I noticed the wind deflectors fitted in front of 2 Heki roof lights where nearly coming unstuck, so I remo them.
Now I’ve replaced the roof vents with sealed type, would I be better using the spoilers in front of my solar panel which are mounted near the front of the roof.

Great idea, why not add a couple more and go for this look.

Hi.
Knowing NOTHING about solar panels/'lectric. I leave ours clear underneath to let it cool/breath. Am i wrong ? It will be left clear anyway because it helps me reach areas of the roof when cleaning/hose piping.

I did look at fitting wind deflectors years ago when I fitted a large solar panel on the van roof to cut down on any potential drag it ma have caused. I saw a mate of ours with loads of dosh had fitted a few on his roof, but when I saw the price of The Fiamma ones, the Scotsman in me said no way am I paying that price!o_O
I have been looking for something else that is white UPVC that would do the job, but not that recently, and I haven't found anything yet.
Here's a link to the Fiamma ones.

While you're driving, there's probably more than enough airflow to keep them cool. While you're stationary, spoilers will have virtually no effect. In the baking midday sun on a still day, most of the air moves underneath from convection, so as long as there's a reasonable gap around two sides, it'll probably be fine.

Manic I use this with the end caps to make a roof spoiler at the front of solar panels. Stuck to the roof with Sikaflex it's worked well on 3 motorhomes.

Sounds like a good idea as the roof vents will naturally direct air over their curved surfaces so not really needed.

They actually look good. What's the brand / source please?
One think that annoys me about our new DIY Ducato is that above 60mph wind-noise form the skylight is loader than everything else... So I'm looking for options.

The ones on mine are probably from when the van was newish around 2001,these where in front of the rear roof vents, the nearest I can find now are these which are 40mm taller

Thanks, that explains it. Hymer design, not the Fiamma one, which to me looks like it was knocked up an hour before the weekend...

What did you stick them on with. (y)
It came with a 200ml tube of (i assume) some form of PU structural adhesive
I presume the correct Sika would be perfectly adequate

I was told that if you get the shape or distance to solar panel wrong then the tumbling rotating air can cause more lift on the panel than no deflector at all?

If it's close to the panel any wind will go over👍 I made my own with a piece of 95 mm plastic architrave stick ends with super glue then stuck to roof with my go to adhesive Puraflex 40

Just checked and Eurocell do 95 X 6 mm plastic architrave for £7.20 for five mtrs

Hope your solar panels are secure. A wind deflector is like an airfoil it will lower the pressure over the panels “suction if you prefer”.
