Very sad to hear today that Ronan O’Rahally passed away yesterday.
He was the founder of Radio Caroline, the first pirate radio station. The only station I now listen to since I found again just before Xmas. Great memories from my early days, and best music choice in my opinion. RIP Ronan.

Hi have you the info to find the station as I spend a lot time in my workshop will bring back my young memories thanks

A man that changed radio listing for ever.

If it was not for him, Radio 1, 2, 3, & 4 would not exist
Arguably, if it was not for Ronan most from Slade onward would never have existed

You can pick it up on 648 medium wave or on the web. Have listened from nearly the start but not recently as thought they’d gone but so lucky I’ve found again. There is also a Radio Caroline flashback station which does sixty and seventy sounds. I love listening between 9am and 10am as they have personal top 15 of listeners. The web has great information on their site.

The yoof of today won't appreciate them like what we did, they can't, cos they know no different to being able to listen to music that suits them at their own free will. Even what happened at 9am on 30th September 1967 and has continued ever since, would never have been able to happen without Ronan.

RIP.

Radio Caroline, the soundtrack to my youth. I broke my ankle in March '66 and was off work until September listening to Caroline all day.
