Posted this in an old inflator thread, but no replies ...and as we have a short trip planned, trying its own thread....

So these inflators that work off crocodile clips rather than the 12v socket such as the Ring 900... could anyone that has one advise please ....do you have to connect it direct to the engine battery terminals?

I ask because for me (Ducato x290), that would mean lifting the cab carpet, undoing 6 plastic clips and lifting the floor panel? and that seems a bit of a faff unless they could be connected via the charging point under the bonnet instead ?

Cheers

I’ve used the hab battery under the drivers seat, or use the jump start points under the bonnet.

In the engine compartment on the Ducati, there is a positive + terminal for exactly that use (or jump starting.) So red clip to this terminal and black to bit of metalwork for the earth.

That would make much more sense 👍 Wasn't sure if it that was only for battery charging..

I connect directly to the leisure batteries and have the engine running if more than a couple of minutes.

It's easier for my setup to use the leisure batteries.

So much so it led me to research setting up a set of remote contacts from the leisure batteries.

Then I thought there are remote points under the bonnet for jump starting so I tried those and they power my Ring 900 inflator.
