We have been to loads of banks in Palencia today to try to get cash out of our Revolut cards ( that are loaded with euros)

The only bank that did it for free was Iberbank.

All the other banks made various charges up to €9 euros.

Does anyone have any up to date info on which other banks don't charge for Revolut withdrawals?

Thanks

how about asking Revolut through the app.

dohh! just looked cant see the chat part of the app any more.. sorry

We are finding that most banks in Spain are now charging for ATM withdrawals from any foreign cards.

Do you really need cash from your card?

I use my Revolut for nearly everything

I take some Sterling cash and change to euros at local change kiosks and get a better rate than banks and no charges.

These days I find that I am hardly using cash anyway.......

@matomoros raised this yesterday on the Nationwide thread as it was a new phenomenon to me. Santander branch ATMs allow 123 customers commission and fee free withdrawals.

It’s not revolut it’s all cards they charge for now....

€20 cash lasts me a month... I pay on the card for everything... even €1.25

Thanks for the replies.

It was not iberbank but ibercaja that was
free

We need cash to pay for the Morocco ferry and to change at Tangier Med.

So up to now it is :

Bankinter
Ibercaja

If anyone has any more up to date info it would be good to know

As for asking Revolut I looked and also did not find a live chat although I have used it before

Yes, that’s why they ask

Try the UNICAJA Banks.

We tried a few that were trying to charge us for withdrawing cash but the above one didn't ask (and therefore didn't get)

Same with our Caxton card last year. We found that the location was also a factor and some banks in some towns free and same bank in other towns wanted to make a charge. You can see it coming down the line. It wont be long before all withdrawals will command a fee.

Understandable enough the machines cost to run why would they do it for nothing?. In the old days the banks all got a payoff from the money being held in the account effectively being there to use interest free now rates are so low theres no real benefit.

Spain seems to be awash with ATMs (compared to UK) and when you use one you realise why...... crap exchange rate 1€ = 1£ and then they charge you about €4 for their trouble!

Never take the ATM exchange rate. Your UK bank, or better still Monzo, Revolut etc will give you a much better exchange rate. The fixed charge is a different matter.

C.r.del Sur bank (Caja Rural del Sur)only charges €1.95 per transaction?

Can you expand on that please . When withdrawing cash it asks accept exchange rate so if you say no does that not mean the transaction is cancelled and you get nothing ?

No, not if you are using a preloaded card. I.e Revolut as it takes it from the euro s already on it or changes it at the Revolut rate if taking from a £ account

Ah thank you . I am using a Virgin card so guess it will cancel the transaction

Big fan of Revolut

Paid for shopping in Euros - too much for my Euro account - taken out of the Sterling 'bit' at the best rate (y)

think!! the advice is always to say no then you get a more controlled exchange rate.

but!!!
check money saving expert web site they cover it there.

Thank you will do . Next withdrawal I'll reject the rate and see what happens lol

I think you always get the option of taking the ATM rate or your bank’s rate, regardless of whether your “bank” is Monzo, Revolut, or one of the traditional banks.

Cash is dead.....

use the card all the time, revolut and monzo...??

we are rapidly heading towards being a cashless society which is good news for the banks so they will make it expensive to use cash
