Any recommendations please?
It’s Hymer motorhome with two bike racks on the back.....I wanted sensors, but was told not with bike racks. There’s lots on the market....need help please 🙏🙏🙏

Hi, I have fitted one of these to replace a Waeco factory fitted camera and the quality of the image and construction is great. All aluminium so no rust!

Chose to user the carmedian product on the recommendation of BishBosh - see his installation pics !

I fitted reversing sensors to my Savannah and put a switch in as we have a towbar bike rack. Turn it off if bikes on or on when not. Easy to fit in the garage area.

After having bumped the rear end of our Savannah been thinking about reversing sensors (yeh, I know!). A couple of questions (if I may).
Do you have a link to the ones you fitted?
I'm assuming you just connect them to the reversing lights (with a switch in the garage to isolate when the bikes are on the back) but where did you locate the "buzzer" for them?
TIA

Gellyneck . Good morning, just sent off from fleabay for them. They were not a lot of money but did come with hole saw to cut skirt. Yes, just connected to reverse lights, fitted switch between the drop down access flap and toilet wall ((small gap) saves getting out to switch when you have forgotten). Buzzer is fitted by the step switch, managed to thread 2 core cable round the back of toilet area and up behind fridge. Photo's if needed but hope that helps,, certainly makes it easier as our camera is on the radio and totally useless. (similar to my navigator). :giggle:

Many thanks.
Will have look on Fleabay to see what's about.(y)
Will maybe see if I can get a set where the buzzer lead will reach to cab area as I've got something else routed to there.(y)

Gellyneck. Not sure if I added cable or if there was enough to run to side of door. Just needed to have within earshot as tried at rear and not loud enough.
o_O

Will, all going well, get ordered tomorrow.
Out of curiosity where did you the buzzer?
I note the buzzer cable is only 2m and will maybe drop the supplier to see if there's an option for an extension cable for it.

My motorhome is 8m. By the time I had fed it through the garage into the bedroom...it ended up at the foot of the bed! Roughly 3m from the cab. Trust me.....plenty of noise!

Ours has an island bed. By the time I had got it through and at the base of the bed...the cable was lost around the lower bed wall. This was then fitted so as I could hear it at its loudest( I am officially top end deaf! ) I placed it just below the mattress and above the step from my loo area into the bedroom. It works really well and is really quite discreet.

Comes with a hole cutter to size and the fit is really quite easy.
Not difficult at all. Use masking tape on the bumper to prevent slip and .....drilling in the wrong place!
Plastic ties underneath to the original wiring loom at the rear. Bring into the bedroom area or garage area and seal with either sika flex or Tiger adhesive (Black) tiny cable clips to the wooden surrounds where its needed and a pos and neg from the reversing light....job done!

Was wondering if it's sensible to hold a wooden block behind the panel when drilling?
Particularly, as we (well me) clattered and cracked the rear skirts!
You only get one guess at why I'm now fitting reversing sensors.:whistle2:

I have a set of these which I’m yet to fit.

i got these due to there range of spares and support. There is a ‘normal‘ set for around £20 less, they have shorter sensor cables and a shorter buzzer Cable

I have fitted loads of sensor kits to cars. To prevent damage to the bumper plastic it’s usually best to drill a pilot hole from the inside out, then use the strange drill / hole saw bit they send you in the kit to create the sensor hole from the outside.
The pilot hole stops the hole saw from going rogue, and it takes the stress when drilling with the hole saw, thus preventing cracking.
I suppose on a MH it depends on your garage layout / access to the rear panel

We took our new Benimar for a drive yesterday before we pay for it, the reversing camera didn’t work. When selecting reverse, the sat nav screen said “camera system not available” so I’ll be getting Marquis to sort that and a few other bits before we go ahead. It should all be under warranty still anyway - 20 plate

I didn’t get chance to point it out as he was with another customer and we were running late so just gave him the keys back. Will call them today.

Looks similar to ours. It doesn't rust but the paint seems to bubble up and start to peel after a few years. At least that is what has started to happen to ours which was fitted 5 years ago.

Kev and Carolyn
FYI
Supplier of your reversing sensor kit have confirmed they do do 5m extension cables.
Will be having a look see on how I'll route the cabling.
Many thanks for input.(y)

Just remember that the sensors are approx 1.5 to 2 m long . The power cable to the alarm is 1 m long (Mine was anyway)
Mount the alarm box suitable for you inside the vehicle. The power cable is just a pos and neg to the reversing light and is roughly a meter long with a square connector to the alarm box. The beeper is roughly 3 meters long. add the lot together and you get roughly 6 meters of useable cable . If your truck is like mine 8meters in length....you will not need any more than what is in the kit!
Dont waste your money. You will end up cable tying the excess cables together somewhere under the truck.
The kit I mentioned and purchased was more than I needed honestly.

It happens. Switch of radio unit, turn off ignition, turn it all back on again and it should work fine.

Thanks for this, I’m going on Monday to finalise things and show the salesman the bits that need attention (damaged reading light and the panel above the passenger seat that squeaks unbearably loudly 😂)

I’ll try this before I add the camera to his list 🙂👍

Why not wire the camera to a switched live feed from the ignition, you can pick this up from the vehicle fuse box using a 'piggy back fuse' (the one with a little wire attached) make sure you put the fuse in the right way up, to share the fuse's protection. That way, you have a rer view of your vehicle all the while your'e driving, like a rear view mirror, really handy if you're towing something.

Hi did you fit it yourself or go to RoadPro?
I bought it from RoadPro but I fitted it myself.

RoadPro were good to deal with for the purchase too.

I replaced the one that was fitted, but used the new cable and mirror monitor as supplied.

I followed the original cable route and used the old one to pull the new one through most of the way. I thought I was better replacing the cable rather than source adapters.

I picked the reverse signal up in the cab near the fuse box in the Ducato, rather than at the reverse light, I used the original ground and ignition live from the original install....which were near the radio head unit.

I’m still impressed with it now......and I still haven’t seen anything better IMO.
