My reversing camera has deteriorated after 8 ys or so; the lens is turning white so the picture isn't good.

What would you recommend as a replacement?

Ideally wireless and suitable for DIY installation.

Garmin BC40 - if you have a suitable Garmin satnav…

I previously had a dual lens unit. Very wide angle lens points down for tight reversing. I could see both ends of the rear bumper and quite a bit on each side. The narrower angle lens was aimed up a bit and provides a good view behind similar to a rear view mirror. They are also designed to be on continuously, which some reversing cameras aren't. But it did need to be wired.

Current van has a single lens and I miss having a good rear view.

Do you use your current camera as a ‘rear-view mirror’ too, Mattyjwr , or do you have a rear-view mirror? The BC40 wouldn’t really be suitable to be permanently on as it is battery-powered…..

Motorhome Retrofits have just put out a reverse camera video on YouTube. Not diy but worth a watch.

Urvolax wireless. Monitor plugs Into a cigar socket and camera is connected to the rear lighting circuit purely for a 12v supply. You can add cameras too if you want a reversing and a rear view . Also by adding two more to the sides you can get all round vision if really interested? Best one we have ever had to be honest.

For a Ducato type van, it's not that hard to get wiring to the front. If you can get the trim off, there's an open channel across the top of the rear doors and down the sides (past the lights where you might want a reversing light signal) that's easy to run wiring through. It drops out of the bottom of the van. Running wires in a bit of flexible conduit that's p-clipped or cable tied to the chassis is simple. And there's a grommet in the base of the b-pillar behind the driver that gets you into a nice cavity inside the van. There's a cable run that goes from there to the dashboard.

Mine is mainly for reversing but I have used it for rear view when checking things behind us. I've wired it to the rear lights so it doesn't need the reverse light to power it.

Mine is a PVC. Wired would work but wireless would be easier.

My Ducato was prewired. One end behind the top stop lamp , other end in vehicle battery area.

I had the same issue with my camera, so I have the falcon wireless rear view mirror camera and I don’t regret getting this at all.
