I am hoping to complete the purchase of an Adria Twin next week from one of the members on here. Whilst the van is well specced, I want to make a few additions one of which will be a rear view camera. I may end up towing a motorcycle trailer, so want to be able to keep an eye on it when reversing. I have done some research I cant decide which way to go with this.
Bluetooth- Garmin BC40 reversing camera setup.
Buy a wired kit and try and install it myself. (I dont have the van yet so dont know how easy it would be to route the cables). If wired do i get somthing that interacts with the Music interface ( another planned upgrade), or a a monitor. I quite like the idea of the rear view miror option.
As above but just pay an installer to fit it.

So for any of you who ahve installed a reverse/ rear view camera to a Ducato panel van type camper, what did you do?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, once you get the m/ h fit reversing sensors and dual lenses reversing/ rear veiw camera. Reversing sensor pick up objects you might miss with the camera.

Sensors are only any use when you do not have a trailer on. I have a roof mounted rear view camera along with a number plate reversing camera. This is ideal as it just picks up the tow hitch allowing me to reverse on to the trailer hitch perfectly. With an on off switch it also allows me to check behind & the tow hitch as well.

I will probably run with a trailer or bike rack, so will need to look at the sensors further

Having looked at a friends setup, I think Ill go with the hard wire into the music system ( Probably Pioneer). Has anyone fittted a camera to their panel van and if so how easy was it to feed the cables>
Thanks H

Hi i added a hardwired high level camera to my 2013 Ducato did a wee description of it. If you go to post 582 on the thread i put some pictures of my install. Ive since covered the wires under the van with a protective sleave.
Cheers.

My A class came with a downward looking camera which picks up the towbar and is ideal for reversing. The image shows on the radio head when reversing. In addition I fitted a hard wired number plate camera to a twin input screen ( with small remote control) which I use as a driving mirror. When towing the toad I can switch the twin input screen to a wireless sensor mounted in the rear of the van, hardwired to the second input of the screen. This picks up the signal from the rear looking camera mounted inside the Toad and connected to the A Frame electrics to save draining the car battery. Icantoggle back and forth between the two inputs ( in case I panic that the Toad has gone!). This all works well, but I am going to replace the two rear view cameras with a pair of 90/150 viewing angle cameras mounted above the downward looking reversing camera and again route the cables through the van tithe twin-input screen. This is to get a better picture as whilst the wireless one is perfectly functional it can get interference ( I once had my rear view replaced with a picture of a horse when overtaking a horse box). Also when it rains, I cannot use the rear wiper on the toad so get raindrops in front of the camera. I am going to reposition the number plate camera under the van pointing down adjacent to the grey waste drains point so I can easily align the van over the grey wastepoint. So I will fit a selector switch on one of the inputs to the screen
