Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for any tips on resolving a leak on a Dometic Seitz S4 sliding kitchen window. This is a small window above the worktop in our Autotrail Mohawk. We had all the external frames re-sealed about 18months ago and a general inspection of the sealant shows no cracks or pealing. I've cleaned out the rubbers and sprayed some silicon onto the rubbers and runners but I'm having no luck in resolving or even locating the leak. As per the pictures, the water is running down the plastic frame from the top right corner.

Is there a drainage channel along the top of the outside frame that may be blocked?

Thanks.

We had the same problen with our 2010 Savannah,on investigation the two drainage slots on the outside of the window were at the top instead of the bottom  took window off and turned it over 👍

Hi rb62 could you possibly post a picture of what you are referring to please? So I can check the orientation of the 'slots' on ours? Thanks.

Vans long gone I'm afraid but they're were two horizontal slots in the outside frame about
50mm x 2mm . Something like this.

are you certain its the window we had the same on the same window removed and resealed the window but it was a leak from the join above the cab running down and only appearing from the frame as a bead running down the glass took the back out of the locker above and found the leak

Ah, well on ours the metal strip is along the top and it has one slot and there is a small grey plastic plug (maybe the wrong word) in it.

Thanks mitzimad, always possible I guess although there are no body joints above this window and it's nowhere near the cab. I've looked in the back of the cupboards above it and all looks dry. I'll have a scan with a damp meter also in that area.

Found the original thread now 👍 have a look at the plug,it was that that was upside down as it is usually at the bottom.

The sliding Setz window that I fitted in 2012 could go either way as there was no difference to show a top or bottom. I fitted one to each side of the van and as I wanted the sliding part to be at the front so in effect one is upside down if there is such a thing.

Thanks, I assume the OP on that thread has since left MHF. Does the whole window have to come out to flip that plug strip or can the aluminum strips be swapped around without removing the whole window and and flipping it 180?

I seem to remember that if you look at the plug it is shaped so I took it out and turned it over. Personally I think it should be at the bottom to drain the channel the window sits in but turning the plug over kept the water out of the van.

Hi rb62 are you referring only to this small grey plug:
