Advice please I need to replace my pigtail due to its age. Set up is a Cavagna Regulator attached to a calor 6kg bottle via a 450 cm Reca hose. Current hose is 501 HP with a 402 R Cavagna safety valve. See photos. Reg nut is M20 RH thread. Nut to safety valve is G3/8 bsp LH thread. Tried loads of places including Cavagna uk for same /similar pigtail.
Question:
1 Do I get rid of safety valve and use 500 cm pigtail direct from bottle to regulator?
2 Is it essential to retain the safety valve bottle end.
3 Should I replace regulator to get more modern hose and safety valve.
thanks.

Is the safety valve on the cylinder connector?
We don’t have one on our Ducato.
Surly you could just get a standard pig tail, they should be changed every 5 years or so anyway, apparently the steel braided ones are better but I’d rather still use a rubber one so I can see it’s condition.
They come with an m20 thread for the regulator end and pol connector for propane or what ever cylinder you choose.

Thanks yes the safety valve provides the connection to the cylinder. I can get a 500 pigtail to alleviate the need for the safety valve. Reassuring that your set up does just that. Thanks

The reason you have the safety valve is that your van has a crash protection sensor fitted, which is part of the regulator, your picture doesn't actually show the crash protection valve but you can see the wiring for it; that part shuts of the gas to the van internals if it detects a crash situation, the safety valve mounted on your bottle shuts off the supply if the hose is ruptured.
Do a proper search on internet they are readily available (if somewhat costly) Truma do make one, amongst others.
Not a good idea to do away with the system, unless you turn the gas off whilst travelling.

Thanks very much that is useful to know. I do switch the gas off to travel but do want to keep the set up in tact not least it's a safety feature.
I think I will need to get anotger manufacturer as cavagna don't have the hose now it's the nut size to the safety valve that seems to be the problem.
Cheers.
