Hi there,

Is there anyway I can make this white or almost white again except for having it re-sealed?

I tried some fenwicks black streak remover but it didn't really do anything.

Thanks

It looks like the sealant is failing - lifting up. It would need replacing.

If it is firmly attached and just lined with mould, I'd use HG mould away but test it first on an inconspicuous area of the area you want to treat.

Plus 1. We use HG on our grey sealant at home. Its the only thing that can shift it

Hi, I just used some T cut and a tooth brush on our motorhome wheel arches and am very pleased with the result.
Good luck

Mould magic. If that doesn't do it replace it.

Neat bleach with a toothbrush, a decent one, like Domestos). If that doesn't sort it, you'll have to remove it & reseal it.

See this thread

I used Cillit Bang Black Mould Remover, as the OP had suggested and it worked a treat. I've used it on trims and silicone, with no adverse reaction on either paintwork or plastic trims.

I did also try Flash with Bleach but it just didn't work, so there must be something else in the Cillit Bang.

Saw a guy on a YouTube video put bleach onto toilet paper and covered the sealant.. he left it for a12 hours then removed. Tried and it worked a treat for me.. black sealant white again!

I just use standard baby wipes. They work well on most stains etc. Wouldn't like to think what they actually do to baby's bums!! 😂😂

Another Bleach & toothbrush convert here. Cheap and works better than anything else.

Many comments on the use of bleach to whiten sealant .
Do you think that the bleach could possibly cause the sealant to fail after a couple of years which may then need an expensive replacement ?

Personally, I don't think that would be an issue, since bleach is used around baths, showers, toilets etc., all of which potentially have bleach used around them. Furthermore, we're not talking about using concentrated bleach. I only left mine on for about 2-3 minutes before rubbing with a sponge and a toothbrush for a short time and then rinsing off with plain water. So, the overall contact time is very short. I doubt it could have any long term effect.

Having said that, the guy mention in a post above who soaked kitchen roll in bleach and left it on his silicone overnight would be a definite no-no in my book. Also, it's not actually necessary as the Cillit Bang Black Mould Remover that i used (and which is based on bleach) takes literally a few minutes to work.

They are but not on sealant and not on shiny surfaces.
