Has anyone used a standard Remoska with 2 standard lead acid leisure batteries. I have two Varta 90Ah ones which will probably be about 75Ah at high current. I recon I could get an hour and a half use at 40A (which is what I have observed it taking). I have 260W of solar. I've not tried it so far apart from checking that my inverter will work ok (400W Remoska actually comes in at 480W) and checking what current it takes. I just wondered if anyone is using a Remoska off grid that doesn't have a Lithium and gallons of solar. May try it out at the THS at Lynden Top. I'll have to keep an eye on cable temperatures to the inverter.

I've used the standard Remoska using the Invertor but only for about 30 minutes when the sun was charging the batteries really well. We've got 3 x 125Ah batteries and 2 x 135W solar panels.

Just tried an experiment to see if I could run a slow cooker from my 720 WHr Ecoflow Pro. The slow cooker is quite large and is rated at 300w and actually drew 285w according to the Ecoflow, The cooker ran for 1.5 hours before the Ecoflow was registering 1% of charge, at which point I switched it off. Total consumption was 0.78 Kw. The Coq-au-Vin for six people was just about ready.
With a 400w / 480w Remoska, it may be that like in my experiment, it will work, but you'll deplete the batteries through the inverter, but then how are you going to get the batteries recharged in time to do everything else. How long will they take with 260w of solar, assuming the sun shines.?
I'm going to repeat the experiment on Friday by doing a spagbog using the smaller slow cooker. Not sure what the rating is, its in the Moho which is in storage till Friday.

40 amps is just above the recommended max of C5 so should be OK. Running for one hour will take 20% out of the batteries so it should be fine.

Does the Remoska have a thermostat?
If it does it will be turning off and on so it will use a lot less power overall

Remoska is either on or off👍

Scared by the thought of a spagbog. Perhaps spagbol instead. (Please infer funny typeface)
Our terminology from way back before anyone can remember. We always called it SPAGhetti BOloGnase.

Back to the question. My 720wHr works out to approx equivalent to a 60 amp battery. (W÷V=A , I think)
So the OPs 90Amp battery is one third bigger, but their Ramoska uses one third more power. So my experimental slow cook might be comparable.. given no thermostat on the Ramoska.
So will that mean that one cooking session will use all their battery capacity. Except that the 90amp battery shouldn't be discharged below 50% ie 45A, ...am I right. I'm not knowledgeable on these thjngs.

Nope just a switch on the lid to turn it on.

Yup

Easy to burn stuff if you don't keep your eye on it then.
Not usually, it only happens if you have something near the lid which gets a lot of the heat over a long period of time in which case you should know this and cover it with a bit of foil.

We regularly use our Remoska off hookup, but our setup is 600w solar and 440ah Gels. IMO your battery pack is s bit on the small side but it does depend where you re doing it, a sunny day in Spain would make a big difference because it will keep the battery voltsge up. With your setup you will probably find that voltage drop as the battery pack depletes will cause problems.

Thanks for the replies. As we generally cook in the evening we won’t have too much sun to support the batteries and they won’t get recharged fully until the next day. Perhaps not worth the risk this time round. We have a new van arriving at the end of the year (beginning of next?) so will decide if we need to go lithium and large solar. Currently planning on two 90Ah gels and 370W solar.

How about one of these instead ...
