Afternoon All,

As per the title, I opened the Remis Rooflight in order to survey the roof for the proposed solar panels.

At the top of it's opening, the rooflight gave a 'click'. I stopped pressing the button that opens it and then
pressed the 'Down' on the Rocker switch.......Nothing.

I took the weight off the struts and retried...... Nothing.

I have managed to undo the struts from the rooflight which has allowed me to reduce the opening and stuck
a couple of binbags up to there to stop the rain coming in but that doesn't provide a solution.

I've sent a message to jezport as a certain other motorhome forum said that he has a diagram of the inner
workings of the rooflight.

I've got the Blind/shade/frame off the inner roof and disconnected the electrics but there's nothing in sight that
gives me a clue as to go any further.

Anybody out there can help.

This is a post to give your problem a little continued notice.
I'm sure you've checked but could it be a fuse ?

Thanks, but no. That is, if there is only one fuse for the whole motor, (as opposed to one for 'Up' and one for 'Down')
A tentative press of the 'Up' creates a 'Click'

If you keep your finger on the up or down do you get a number of clicking noises?
If its the same as the one I used to have there is an alloy Cog/spindle that wears as it is driven against a steel one. A repair kit is available so dont be conned into a new gear box at over £120

Is the remotes battery OK? Mine used to fail although seemingly the batteries were good
If there is no noise at all has the thermo switch operated? Long periods of standing would cause the seals to stick the thing shut and be too much foe the motor.

No. It isn't the remote.
I know this for definite because our humble non gin drinking Hobby doesn't have a remote. It was the butlers day off as well so I can't blame him.
Thanks anyway(y)

As a Finale to this thread I set to this morning and got the rooflight down to the closed position.

Now that it's there, I can get the motor to work in both directions but there's no connect in the mechanism.

I've been on the roof and taped it down, (so that it won't lift as and when I can get out again??? )to take it to someone less hamfisted with one hand and another hand to collect the shedload of dosh to fix it.

Thanks for that jezport (and thanks for your help as well)

You have to wonder, other than planned obsolescence, to do a gear system where a steel cog meets up or is mated to an alloy cog.
Bl**dy criminal.
