10 years overlanding in a Discovery. Sahara, Arctic, Iceland and Asia with more to come.
We have just bought a Benimar Mileo 202. Being a 6m motorhome, space is at a premium. Because of this, the wastewater tank is located under the rear and the spare wheel is in one of the lockers.

Has anyone found a way to fit a wheel carrier under the center of the fiat chassis rather than the rear, with access from the side?

If we could do this it would free up a massive amount of interior storage.

I am firmly in the "carry a full spare wheel camp" so a tube of goo isn't for us.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Check out posts by techno, he did an excellent write up on his underslung wheel carrier. I fitted same to a Renault master, most bits available on e bay , as they strip them from chassis cabs when converting to ambulances.

I tried to fit the 15" spare off our 2016 202 model inbetween the chassis members and it would not fit, fitting it below the chassis, gave insufficient road clearance for speed humps, to get more storage I fitted a chassis mount refillible gas system, this had 2 advantages, cheap gas refills all over europe and it freed off the gas locker for storage.

Ah well, looks like it's back to the drawing board.

If you don't intend to carry bikes on a bike rack you could look to fitting it on the rear, as is done with some Autotrails.

Got it........ And you only need a 12v Inflator.
Let the air out, shoehorn the wheel between the chassis rails and put some air back in
When you need it release the air and lever the wheel out, fit the wheel and inflate to pressure.
See, there's always a solution. (y)

On a previous MH I too looked to store a spare wheel underneath (not supplied with one as standard) but it wasn't possible due lack of clearance from the road!

We fitted a 15” spare wheel under our 7 metre fiat, bought the fitting from eBay, hubby had to slightly move a shower pipe and it fits perfectly
