Saw the post about recommending a table so thought I would follow it up.

Seems to me, every year we buy some fancy camping chairs and ev very year at some point they break and end up going in the bin.

Who makes a strong folding camping chair that is really made to last, doesn't have rivets or nuts that come loose and fall apart or plastic bits that snap.

I have tried from cheap to expensive, they are all as bad as each other.

I know what you mean, had Lafuma relaxers - good chairs but bulky and shook cord always breaking, then Quest Vegas xl chair - fabric broke up in 6/7 months ( refund from Gooutdoors)
Now trying these from Decathlon, so far so good- fingers crossed.

We have some lightweight recliner chairs purchased from Aldi. The first pair in 2005, in regular use every summer at home. We then bought another pair in 2010 that we use in the van. Totally robust, compact and comfy.

Trouble is they are a seasonal item, so only in store for a short time. Think we paid about £25 each. They come up at Lidl too. Ours are currently providing service in Spain!

These are the best camping chairs I've come across. Bought them originally in the States for motorcycle camping as they fold up small. Still have them after 20 years. Unfortunately like most of the good stuff they're not cheap and not easily bought over here, sorry.

Lafuma - 5 years and not a problem.

Looks perfect - now, how to get one...

Sorry, I meant the Kertmit chairs - ship internationally - just how good are they??

We have had 2 Lafuma chairs, continually kept falling to pieces, screws holding the arms and seat kept on falling out. Also the seat fabric stretched and the stitched seams came apart. Over priced, would not buy again.

Coleman Sling chairs. After destroying several others with my bulk these seemed incredibly light and compact when I bought them on recommendation, but they have been superb. Just be careful what you pay as the price seems to vary widely. They sometimes pop up for less than £40 and are worth every penny. They are also available in a light khaki colour.

I agree with the above comments about Lafuma chairs, all the above has happened to us. Would not buy again.

Well, I think they're excellent. They are not very high though, more for lounging with a beer which is what you'd expect as they are the number 1 chair for US bikers camping. You can get the leg extentions though.
Have you had a look at the video and the faqs. Should give you a better idea.

Thanks - leg extensions look like a necessity - expensive add on times 2

Had Dukdalt for 10 years,,very light and hardwearing,,,Used them for 5 months every year. Now got Lafuma,,comfy but heavy..We use small stools /table as foot rests.BUSBY.

We have tried lots and lots of chairs and up to now the most comfortable and sturdy but light are from the Isabella range, we also have the extensions for lounging .

Just to balance it out.
Our Lafuma loungers are at least 14 yrs old and going strong.
They are heavy and take a lot of space but they are super comfy for that afternoon snooze in the sun.

Richard.

Dukdalf make sturdy camping furniture.

Superb chairs particularly the ones with the rectangular extruded frames. Bought ours in 2002 still going strong.

By comparison Lafuma we had were rubbish.

OH we have two pairs of chairs
the Heavy pair we bought from a camping shop that we closing down in 2007 (ish ) at £70 for the pair (50% off) they are Outwell ones obviously now obsolete but have three sitting positions including built in fold away leg rests in reclining mode

The light ones are from Hyper U they cost us 15€ each and are more sun loungers

Ship internationally - convince me I should buy two please - they look terrific
You can buy them in the UK. Search Google, eBay or Amazon.

We have two with footstools and they are very comfortable. Some second hand ones appear on ebay.
Edit - just checked I got mine from Aztec Leisure in Cornwall. 01872552372

We have some chairs we bought back in 2001 and they are still going strong. They are very light weight aluminium but very sturdy, easy to use and comfy ... my old dog Piggy used to love one to herself!
