What is the point in a motor home. Can I just take it off?

I've got a massive back window so every point nut if you have a back wall then yes take it off

Took mine off, it opened the screen out no end. It's amazing how much of the observable field of vision is obscured by the often pointless fitment. Much easier to have the reversing camera dashboard mounted.

I fitted a dash camera mirror over mine. You can also add the rear facing camera as well

Mine has the 2 rear cameras display in it so it’s very useful.

I believe that it is a legal requirement to have 2 means of viewing the rear. So with 2 wing mirrors a central mirror isn't required. If a wing mirror is smashed/damaged and unusable then the central mirror counts, even if you can't see anything in it. Or at least, that was the explanation of why a works van passed an MOT with no drivers wing mirror.

On the other hand, where will you hang the ferry tag when travelling abroad (if we are ever allowed to again).

Good point, and reminds me,in my works van I carry a couple of emergency stick on mirrors, I should source a couple of those for M.H. Thanks.

Sort of makes a mockery of some of the laws and requirements in our traffic rules.
You MUST have at least two methods of rear view vision(wing mirrors) however if one of them gets knocked off you are still perfectly legal if you have an internal rear view mirror that can only see if your wardrobe door is closed.??????

I would be lost without ours, you need one to hang your boarding card on. 😁
We can just about see our bikes are still there out of one rear window with ours. 🙂 Bob.

I remodeled mine to accept a camera screen, it is every bit as good as a rear view mirror and the blind still fits behind.

My original PVC van (Probably like many others) in original form as a goods van does not have a mirror but has a manufacturers fitted sat nav screen.

Not present when we bought our van (used) but as I could see nothing with it anyway never worried.

I have since fitted a replacement two-camera reversing kit and had to source a mirror to mount it. As it happens a friend had an old broken glass one but as the new screen covered the glass it was perfect!

I know apparently "proper" (and I use the term loosely) mohos are built on van cabs and chassis but the back van box is missing so moho builders have a naked back end to build their "caravan" bodies on to.
However most PVC's are built from current panel vans (obviously) and they all have a rear bulkhead to the cab.
So honestly what is the point of a internal rear view mirror.

A very good point and probably the most useful response to this thread!

This is not a problem I had thought about. Now I want to know, if Covid restrictions are ever lifted, if I'll be allowed out of the country?
