I am looking at getting my van re upholstered in Kobe leather, my wife is into leather and it would be a nice surprise, anyone got any experience with leather, hints/tips etc. Thanks (y)

How about this
If your wife’s into leather. It should certainly surprise her ??

Joking aside. We had our upholstery done at Regal furnishings at Ilkeston. 1st class job and would thoroughly recommend them ??

Err it wasn’t that type of leather it was for seats, my wife is into it as easier to keep clean with grandkids ?

Yes we believe you. ;)

We had a leather interior in a Bessacarr caravan a number of years ago.
We have two border collies & it was the easiest upholstery to clean that we've ever had.
A wipe with a damp cloth allow to dry then a good quality leather feed/conditioner, job done.

Would be cheaper to buy here a Kobe handbag for a couple of hundred pounds.

I’ve had the burgers from Costco but not too impressed!

Pros and cons of Kobe leather for use as upholstery.
This leather is very thin and probably not advisable to use on motorhome upholstery, it is also only available in small hides so for large areas of seating it would need to have many panels. It can be very attractive with its mottled surface though and I believe some upholstery companies are experimenting with it.
Pedigree Tajima cattle produce great wagyu though.

My wife finds them cold when wearing suspenders but when she puts the heated seats on thinks she has wet herself, I’m glad I don’t wear suspenders and a skirt, it’s never affected me, has it you?

You can already get sofas so being used more and more ?

I recommend Careavan for leather work, they've done two superb jobs for me (y)

Why did you not simply tick the options box for 'leather' when you were ordering

It was an ordered vehicle that was available, I wanted to get before the emissions scandal tax (y)

So you are actually committed to buying it now? Just asking ..................
This is crunch weekend, double and triple checking choice, it’s huge money, can’t see any other option, just trying to work out a pick up date. I wanted to take grand kids for half term holiday in it 20th Oct for a week, but dealership is empty due to NEC so not possible, other than that I don’t need it until next July, so do I pay and leave it there until next year free as they offered, could they go bust and I lose it, it is at the dealership so would be left in a compound with no TLC at least at mine it is plugged into power and heated. What would you do?

I am the last person you should ask, because I would not have got myself into this situation.

I would have gone for one of the German motorhomes you looked at. The difference in price is probably about the same as what you are now planning to spend on Kobe leather upholstery! And if I did decide to buy a Swift I would not have gone through with it if I had the doubts you appear to have.

And I would not have bought a new motorhome knowing I was not going to use it for over 6 months either.

My doubts with the Swift were sloppy finish, this is all being put right as it should, it’s not a lot of money in real terms compared to what I saw in Germany and as it’s just a means of transport and sleeping for 6 weeks in the summer well within our budget, 6 weeks in an average hotel in St Tropez area for 2 rooms is £36,000, we did look at properties in Port Grimaud to buy but having been there for 9yrs the novelty wears off and out of season it’s dead. I had a nanny and her brother was actually a live in warden there, we took the nanny to France with us and met him so I got some inside knowledge, not for us I’m afraid.
