I've just completed this exercise with SvTech, and decided to call my insurers (Caravan Guard) to let them know, amazingly they had no idea what I was talking about as they have never been notified of this before, so they spoke to Royal & Sun Alliance who also had never heard of uprating the GVW, I explained the process and they are all happy as they confirmed they don't need to be told of such a change

But them never having heard of it makes me wonder if I'm the only person who's (tried) to notify my insurer?

Uprated my Hobby from 4.5 to 5 tonne with SVTech. Notified insurance company (Comfort) who made a note of the change. No effect on premium.

There, lying to you. I rang them when I done mine ;)

Replated mine last year. I called Comfort (who were aware of the process) they noted the change and the premium stayed the same.

I rang CaravanGuard when I did mine. They weren't interested then either. Whoever I spoke to knew what I was talking about but said it wasn't relevant to the insurance.

Going to stick the new vin plate on tomorrow and then order a hydra trail so I can take my BMW bike with me whenever I want

Replated ours in 2013 and rang Saga, it was just noted and no change in the premium.

When getting quotes or taking out a policy never been asked for the weight, I'm thinking of upgrading so if I didn't inform them it would not effect the info they have on my van.

I also notified Caravan Guard when updated and reminded them just on renewal but both times they said it wasn't relative.
