no doubt that there will be scams there, usually are, buyer beware etc, but also genuine vehicles that can't or won't be used this summer and people desperate for money caused by the hardship this virus is causing to many..

i have bought a few motorhomes on eBay and never had a problem but i am a cash buyer and only part with my money face to face and usually i take one or two of my boys with me and check vin and reg no
bill

if you look at the photo there is a thatched cottage in the background , I very much doubt if its located in carlisle or even Cumbria for that matter
And the trees are in full leaf. Maybe the photos were taken when away in the summer...………...

i was recently scammed by someone with over 400 positive comments, turned out he somehow hacked their page to make people think he was genuine, ebay themselves contacted me and refunded my payment by paypal a couple of days later

obviously a complete scam. I thought I’d try and have a little fun so I asked if it’s available to view.

The photos were taken in the Essex/Suffolk area if you look at the style of thatch on the roof ( each area has distinct thatching styles! And I like train spotting ) It may be genuine as someone has fallen on hard times or it could be a complete rot box or a write off with flood damage to it hence the price, I would ask for an address to pick up from ( use google earth to home in on it) and more up do date pictures and do a full examination before even buying, the best way to see if they are genuine is to ask where the vehicle can be examined by an authorised vehicle examiner with relation to condition, vin numbers and damp/damage checks. If genuine then no problem, if they ask for cash up front or a deposit or don't reply then you have your answer. Its worth paying a couple of hundred quid to get it checked out if they say ok for examination, if you don't agree then throw your cash down the toilet as that's all you would get back

Scams always seem to be around £7-£9k, easy to spot and ignore or report.

I often wonder what type of moron would believe such an obvious attempt at scamming!

You would not believe it! I worked for 10 years plus both in Government and the private sector as a senior fraud investigator and the nicest people I met were the scammers ...........Totally true, interviewing one guy arrested for suspected fraud, His MO was to go to the Embassies of foreign states in London or where every they had their Embassy, on a Sunday dressed as a gasman or electricity/water employee. He states he was there to cut off the supply for an unpaid bill and presents the guards with a faked bill and as it was a Sunday he could only take cash! Presents a fake homemade ID as proof of who he was with a contact number for an accomplice So off the guards go and within 4 -6 mins he is given anything between £6,000 to £25,000 CASH. Why did he get caught? He panicked at a certain Embassy when they were over 10 mins and did not return .............the reason being they were trying to scrape up the cash to pay him! He was a lovely bloke and asked if he could have some paint to re do his cell as if he was going to be in a long time it might as well be nice! Quite true so you see how easy you can be scammed , even if it seems ok the check and double check before signing the cheque.

Scammers usually have no or very few transactions. Also check their feedback.
If this is the one I'm not surprised it's so cheap as according to the details it's only 7' long and 2' 3" wide.

And here's where the photo's came from and still looks a little low on price, so maybe a scam too.

Another way to check and its not watertight as the number plate may well be cloned, is to look on the DVLA website for *Check my vehicle* you enter the reg no and can get the MOT history and road tax history of the vehicle , not watertight but will give you some idea as to mileage and use HOWEVER number plates can be cloned Vin plates can be altered and mileage clocked, but take a photo of it as most vin plates have a self destruct fastening and once gone it is obvious been altered. As I said before if genuine will have no problem with an expert checking over and if it turns out the expert is wrong then they should have indemnity insurance. Looking at this one it appears to be genuine but numbers can be cloned so the VIN check is the key and I would suspect it might have been flooded out. Do not pass any cash by whatever means until van seen in the flesh and FULLY checked out, If the seller can't or won't don't bother plenty more vans out there

Yep got it in one check out every available source that's the key Now who is going to either wind him up or piss him off?

Hi where can I look at the vehicle and I know that might be difficult in these times but my sons are authorised vehicle examiners for the Police and I would like a full inspection before I decide on purchase. If you are in Scotland I have another son in Orkney who is also in the Police and one in the Met (London area) so inspection should not be a problem. Lock down does not apply to them and if vehicle genuine and free from defect cash waiting ( copy of e mail sent!)

Simple solution ... if you find something that doesn't seem to be kosha report it, Ebay will look into it and if it's fraudulent they'll remove it.
