Rapido 9 Series A Class Front Bed Assistance

Hi all.
Has anyone any information on the assistance when lowering and raising the front bed on an A class Rapido. There are air cylinders but I cannot see that these would give you the help in lifting the bend up into the travelling position. Mine seems to have lost all assistance and takes 2 to lift it into position.
Is there anything other than the air cylinders or by replacing them cure the problem.

Anyone know of a parts list online which would show components?

Any help would be apprciated

We have an electric bed in our`s....

Don`t know if it was an added extra,,,,, but works well...

Looks like a 12volt motor attached some how to the cantilever part of the mechanism..

Thanks for info, mine not electric but has been easy to move up and down manually until now so something amiss somewhere.

.Cannot find anything out about the handraulic type...

But I should think there are a couple of hydraulic lift assisters similar to this.... that have lost there preasure..

I might be talking rubbish...

Better known as gas struts! They can be refilled or replaced to give you the assistance you need,

Not rubbish it is looking like you are confirming my thoughts but I could not see how these two cylinders could give such an help in lifting this weight.

Where did you get pic of cylinder?

I would have thought it would be replacements as if they have now leaked would not the same thing happen if refilled. Who would do such a task?

Hi Bernard........... It`s one I had in my library of old photo`s..

I had two strut`s go on an easy lift bed.... unfortunately they were not rechargeable...

But on the outer black body was stamped a number and some letters, in white.......... this reffered to the power of the lift (They do differ from the amount off weight they have to counter balance)... Just measure when you can get them off in the closed and open position and the number and go on Ebay.... loads on there and about £15 - £20 a pair..

Their is a company in streatham South London that specialisers in gas struts, they do recharge them with a nitrogen mix but often its cheaper to replace,
They are basically a heavier duty version of the ones to keep tailgates open on cars,

They are in Mitchum not streatham but close enough,
