Already updated vehicle to 3850kg 1850kg on front 2000kg on rear
I need to increase rear to 2250kg how can I achieve this

you need an engineer to do the calculations, change to higher rated tyres and add airbags to the rear suspension

Depends on chassis
My weight is same as yours
I am on an alko light even with increased tyres and air assist cannot increase weight anymore

It is air assist on the rear, heavier springs on the front and bigger tyres. I had it done last year. SVTech do the calls, Dave Newell did the work

We had to fit air assist to our Alko chassis and higher index tyres, changing from 215/70 15 109 index to 225/70 15 112 index. This enabled the rear axle to be rated at 2240kg from the standard 2000kg.

Was this on same model I would be interested much was it to do and who completed the work

Different motorhome but it makes no difference, it’s the chassis that’s the important bit.
We had the tyres fitted locally, the air assist was done by AS Suspension in Warrington who are excellent and the paperwork was done by SV Tech.
Air assist on a leaf spring chassis is more simple and a lot less expensive, we’ll under £1000, than on an Alko.
We paid about £1700 for the suspension upgrade and £300 to SV Tech., plus the cost of the tyres.
SV Tech are great to advise you on how to proceed.

...and SV Tech's initial advice is free.
No downside to giving them a call - even if you decide not to proceed.

You need to check which chassis you have. The chassis will determine if you can upgrade further.

I have an alco AMC chasis
It’ll cost £1600 to £2000 to do an Alko and there aren’t any DIY kits. Be careful who you choose to do the work. We chose AS at Warrington, highly recommended, even though they are across the country and there are fitters a lot nearer to us. I stayed overnight nearby, arrived with them at 9am, spent the day in Warrington, had a long lunch, and picked it up about 4pm. They gave me a lift into Warrington and collected me.
Very professional and no problems.
Fitting Alko air assist is more complicated than leaf spring and there are more variations, in my view, worth the travel to have it done right.

If it's a light not sure can upgrade axle weight we cannot upgrade ours abive 3850
I think we could transfer some weight from front to back making frint 16850 and back 2200 fitting springs and air assist as well as tyres but decided for cost not worth it. We inly just manage front as it is at 1850.
speak to Svtech

Ours is on the light chassis and has been upgraded, on the rear axle, to 2240kg from the standard 2000kg by fitting air assist and higher index tyres. Even though our front axle is rated at 1950kg we still have to stick to the 3850kg overall weight. We upgraded the rear because we were always on or above the limit, but the results are much better rear suspension that feels like it is working properly, reduces swaying and is more comfortable and quieter.

Hi Hettie thanks for clarification as I thought does seem an expensive job but if needed it's needed. With 4 of us we struggle with 1850 at front...
Decided next MH want a heavy chassis so can go 4.5t ish.

I think ours is the AMC35L, don’t know if there’s much difference to the 37 but they are both the light chassis.
Unfortunately the Alko chassis is considerably more expensive to add air assist to and there are a surprising number of slight differences making it essential to have it professionally fitted.
After much research we decided on the AS system from AS Suspension in Warrington. As said in another thread, they were not the nearest to us by a long long way but the system is lighter than the others available which was important to us.
It cost us about £1800 with compressor and was expertly fitted in a day at their workshop whilst I spent the day in Warrington. Dropped it off at 9am, they drove me into Warrington and picked me up again and I set off home around 4pm.
There are a few places to stay around that area the night before.
I would highly recommend AS Suspension in Warrington. We were so satisfied we went back and had HPC levellers fitted. Great people to deal with.
Whilst it has enabled us to up rate our rear axle it also transformed the rear suspension. It always felt like it was on the limit and not working well. It raised the rear slightly and provided more movement and compliance resulting in a quieter drive and less swaying when trucks/coaches pass.
Plus we can raise the rear on the compressor to get clearance going up ramps etc.

Can anyone suggest best make of air assist system to go for and anyone who can do in Essex or near

Would ver much appreciate any help
