Could you give us a clue as to what your doing with the bodies of guitars!

Why random orbit, wood has a grain (sorry real wood) so needs to be loved and treated with respect.

Another of the natural things that is Extremely tactile.

Amazing stuff keeps you warm at least twice, cutting and burning. Three times if cutting, stacking and burning.

Would suggest very fine grade to remove paint or varnish then by hand but keep it moving

Anything that works.

I have a JCB round orbital and an old oblong orbital. As well as a couple of triangular 'detail sanders.'

The guitars always get finished by hand in the direction of the grain.

Latest wood project is 1932 Rolls Royce door cappings. The veneer is coming off so new needs putting on.

After 180 grit in the JCB and 600 grit by hand, then 5 coats of nitrocelulose, 2000 grit and polishing compound.....

Excellent for roughing out but any really fine Finnish is achieved By hand. At least that is my experience?

I use one of these, with a 2mm rotation and very fine grit 300/or 400 no marks. Not cheap but good results
