Hi
I've always wanted a motorhome, but only just got one!

We're so new we haven't even been out in our new (1997 Peugeot Boxer) Autohome Windfall yet!
We have some questions and teething problems that I hope you experienced people might be able to help with....if you don't mind...

1. Where's the best place to get a reasonably priced TV that will run off 12v and 240v?

2. Our cargo net - we can't figure out how to fix it up...it has two clips at the sides and we can see where they seem to go...but the other edge (bottom?) has a row of screws...and we can't see where they go....any ideas? We feel a bit dumb! Maybe the previous owners altered it or do they usually fix on that way?

Jenny

Hi Jenny and :welcome:
I'm afraid i can't help with the cargo-net, but the cheapest option with the tele would be (in my opinion) get a tele from a supermarket and run it through an inverter when not on 12v.
Keep an eye on the Maplins website, they often have specials on inverters

Hi Jenny & Welcome from us:thumb:

Asda do a 15" LCD TV, DVD Combi for 149, which runs on a 240 dropdown box that drops it down to 12volt, I bought 1 a couple of weeks ago & it works perfectly fine on 12volt, the only downside is it doesn't have freeview:cry: But asda also sell the freeview scart adapter.

Hope this helps & Happy Travels in your new van.

Hi Jenny & welcome to the "FUN"

I have this TV Link Removed from Maplins. Runs off 12v & is the lightest I could find. It also has Freeview built in. If you look on Ebay you can sometimes find the same at a lower price than Maplins. :thumb::thumb:

Oooooops had a senior moment then ..... I hadn't finished.

By using on 12v you don't have the converter box hanging around, & it uses very little power.

I use mine with a Sky box & run this off an inverter so I keep the TV on 12 v all the time.

I got my TV from ASDA 230 v box 12 v without box £115.
My SKY Dig box is also 12 v.
I dont like inverters as they use additional power to whatever you are using..

Any TV with the external transformer usually works fine on 12 volt!
Just check the output voltage on the transformer box!
I have a 15 inch HD ready dvd combo with built in freeview!
£200 from comet!

Thanks so much for the answers guys :D I too am a bit wary of inverters because of having to keep switching them off, so there's some very useful alternative ideas here. I will check them out!

We bought a 15" combo (DVD, CD,FREEVIEW etc) from MOBILE TV (google Mobile tv) for about £320. Well worth it in every respect. But if your interested we have a 10" flat screen LCD TV (no freeview) + portable DVD player (which plugs into the T.V.) up for grabs for about £100. Only a couple of years old, works off an inverter when not on site.

Hello

Welcome - Rob and I are novices also - even tho we bought our first m-home in Oct last year we only had a couple of runs out in it so far....

We bought our tv/cd/dvd player from Towsure -where they have all camping/caravan/m-home bits n pieces - they are situated in Bearwood - this side of B'ham - but check out their website they may have a location closer to you! Welcome to Towsure - Discount Camping and Caravanning Equipment, EC Approved Towbars, Trailers and Trailer Parts from Towsure
