A few weeks ago I bought a handheld Dyson V6 Car and Boat version and find it is very good at keeping the motorhome clean. Bought that version because it included a 12V charger, and got a good deal from Go Outdoors. I am looking at where I can permanently store it in the motorhome and am thinking of buying the Dyson wall mount bracket that is used for the stick version so that I can keep it charged all the time.

For those that have this cleaner and wall mount, how securely is the vac held in the bracket please? Is it just by gravity or is there something better than that? I do not want it falling off while we are driving along.

Many thanks for any (sensible) answers.

I keep mine in a floor locker then recharge when it needs doing, either on 12v or 240.

Which is the cordless one to buy, and best place to buy it from?
Decent enough to use in the house as well, ta.

We have got the V8 I think at home which slots quite securely into the wall bracket. You have to push it up to release the mechanism and then pull down.

Not sure how it would fare in the van though so I think some Velcro as well might be a good idea

@dabhand Simon, "Which" recommend all of the stick Dysons and a couple of Boschs. They reckon the new V10 is better than many corded vacs. But this was only for the moho so did not want to spend too much, given it would not be used often, and the V10 did not have the 12V charger or the small motorised brush attachment that was ideal for smaller spaces.

I have a wall mount and it is useless. To stop it falling off I use a velcro strap around the bit where the accessories stick in the mount

Is the pet one any better? And, @peterc10 if the V10 doesn’t have a 12v charger, does that mean you can’t charge it up on 12v?

@dabhand All the V10s are the same basic unit, only difference is what attachments you get with them. The 12V charger I have got states it is only for use with V6, V7 or V8. No mention of V10. So don't know if you will be able get one for the V10. Mind you the V10 has double the run time of the V6 so will not need to charge it so often.

I bought just an additional Dyson charger without a wall mount for the motorhome and will keep it under the floor in the N+B where I will install 13 amp socket for the charger. I couldn't see the point of the expense or where to put a wall mounted unit in the motorhome.

Although not familiar with that particular model, I’d put a nail through it to fix it to a wall.
I put one on FleaBay warning that “It Sucks” in the description, but that didn't stop people bidding for it!

We have a wall mount and it's fine.

Sorry for another question but where does the charger cable enter the wall mount please? To, bottom or either side? May be important as there is only one place I can put it. Thanks again

We initially had ours wall mounted in large garage of MH. Many a time said item got in the way when pulling or throwing things in. So found somewhere else to store and charge when required. You make mention of wanting it to be charged when you need to use. You must remember unless you are prominently on EHU or inverter is always on, you are always going to make sure its charged ready.

So by not having it wall mounted you can charge when required and put it away somewhere where it will not be in the way.

It still plugs into the the base of the vac via the mounting plate. You connect the charger to the base plate and when you slot vac into the mounting plate the charge connector engages into the vac

Thanks, but got somewhere in the garage that is out of the way and should not effect what other things go in there. The scooter misses it when going in and out, which is the main thing. I will be using the 12V charger anyway for this, so no need for EHU or inverter.

Again thanks. But just need to know where about on the wall mount/base plate the cable itself comes in, as it is critical for the position I want to use.

Are you getting a dedicated 12 v charging Dyson with long lead. The 12v charging unit which can be bought from spares has a very short 12 v length of cable

As I said in my OP the V6 I bought comes with a 12V Dyson charger, and is for use in cars and boats. The lead is long enough to get to the 12V plug I have in the garage. Just want to know where on the wall mount it will plug in.

... at least yours sucked ... :D

We have the same vac, keep it in one of those black plastic Poundland boxes like what you got (he, he, I've just told everyone you shop at Poundland) under the floor. After using it charge it then put it away, it has a Li-on battery so once charged it will hold its charge can't see the point of leaving it on all the time.

Thanks to everybody who helped.

I have bought a wall mount bracket from Ebay, so we will see what it works like.
