Getting better
This seems rather a daft question, but I’m not sure how this works. I have a Quest Screenhouse 4 pro and want to get the connector to attach it to the motorhome, a Chausson Flash 10. The motorhome does not have an awning channel. The description states that the connector fits vehicles180-210cm high. My motorhome is 2.89m high. Is the connector not suitable (and I don’t know of a bigger one) or should I just attach an awning channel at say 200cm high? Thanks

How are they suggesting you connect it without an awning rail?

Geoff

A quick Google shows this.....

The Quest Screen House Pro Vehicle connector fits both the Screen House 4 Pro & 6 Pro Shelters. It is the perfect addition to make your versatile shelter into a driveway awning, all you simply do is zip it onto your shelter and then feed it onto your awning rail. The connector features a double beading kador strip (4mm & 6mm) so that you can directly attach it onto a windout awning, a reemo rail or even a normal 'C' rail.

I don’t have any awning or awning rail/channel attached to the motorhome. The description states that the connector features beading to allow fitment into an awning channel.

I think they only do the connector for T5 Volkswagen

The pictures on the website only show it attached to a VW T5. Assuming you would want to fit it so that it covers your habitation door, the top at 210 cm I don’t think it would clear your door on the Chausson.

Dont think they do one yet for coachbuilt sized vans heightwise....

Thank you all, appreciate the replies.

If you have no awning rail or channel to take the kador strip 6/8 mm beading then you are probably best just getting the canopy attachment for your van. It doesn't come close to the van because of guy ropes but we found it quite versatile.

Fitting is as mentioned above & the taller connector tunnel for motorhomes is in the final stages of development by Quest but bringing it to market keeps getting delayed. Better to wait for the taller version especially if adding an awning rail too. Other options for attachment would be a magnetic driveaway awning connector for van conversions (ok but can pull off when windy)

or "Limpet" suction version for coachbuilts but not tried these:

Thank you so much. Any vague idea of when the motorhome version may eventually become available?

The Quest product manager advised us previously that it should be this year but Covid has caused supply issues - would think that next year is possible 🤞

Many thanks Wombles👍

IMV the problem isn't the height of the MH's awning attachment rail (ie roll our awning or awning rail) nor the tunnel but the height of the Quest awning side itself as they are no-where near high enough at only 1.8m to make it 'sensible' to try to attach it to a MH as any 'tunnel' piece will have a very, very big slope on so you won't get in your MH hab door, no different to many other awnings on the market, so unless you know for certain that you will get your hab door open don't bother with a tunnel.

Mmm, food for thought, thank you.

Thank you so much for your efforts, really appreciate it.

Have pondered this query of awning height and connecting to a very high fixed awning channel with a stand alone shelter, and the resultant angle created and thus steepness of the connecting “tunnel”, with allowing for the jab door to open without catching on the “tunnel” roof, and gave up in the end.
We just use ours now as a stand alone unit only with no connecting system.
This will be until I can have a go at making some kind of connecting kit myself, when the much better weather arrives next year.

Have emailed for an update now - will post here if/when I hear back. Think the higher tunnel should work with most doors otherwise developing it would have been a waste of time & money for Quest.
Not necessarily, if they've never used a MH they may not realise that a problem exists as they could just be looking at how it will fit above the door without it opening.

This was something hubby and i were keen to follow up on, we have the quest pro 4, our motorhome is quite high, I contacted atwools camping, they said at present only do the canopy for the smaller motorhomes, hoping to do something in the near future?
I was thinking maybe at the NEC, 2022, that may be there?

Hopefully the tall tunnel should be available in 2022 - may not be as early as the February NEC Show though. Have emailed the Quest Product Manager for an update as was planned to be on sale this year but Covid caused production problems - will update here with any reply.

I have received the following from a retailer. If true, that’s a shame.

“To our knowledge, Quest don’t have any plans on making a connector for the taller Motorhomes. It was something they considered but decided against it due to the various heights of motorhomes.”

Still haven't heard back from the Quest Product Manager but this was the last update in 2020:
"Unfortunately we did have some more samples of the drive away and although it was 90% there we did not want to go ahead for 2020 with the item not been 100% which we were extremely disappointed about (and I'm sure you agree with us on that).
We are still getting more samples from the factory as this is a product we will be persisting with but it will most probably be a 2021 addition as with the coronavirus around getting items from china is been particularly difficult at the minute so this has slowed down to a crawl with all samples not just this one.
Hopefully we will be able to show something off at the October NEC show to customers after we are happy to sign it off."
He is still shown as being in that role at Quest so will chase again to find out what the current situation is.

Many thanks

thanks wombles, was just the other day, trying to find into on the taller version, found the canopy for smaller vans for £169, if I remember, 🤞 soon be available, as we love our quest, so would be ideal to have that attachment for privacy when grandkids around.

Any idea now when the coach built version is coming out. Still haven't seen this. But would love one to attach to our pro 4 and 265cm coach built.

Why not just attach it to the other side of your van ( over the roof)with long straps.that you vould throw over the top and secure with pegs.
Webbing is quite cheap on ebay and is available in various widths to suit what you need.

Would like a tunnel to keep the wet and mud out.

Last update was that Quest are struggling to make an effective working prototype for the taller tunnel...
