Hi, Just used the pull down bed in our (new to us) Rapido 9048 for the first time. I spent days sterilising the mechanism and all associated surfaces, actually sawing out slats to do this. What a bloody palaver!

Anyway, the grandkids did poke the blinds and my granddaughter nearly ended up on the dashboard after tossing and turning in the night.

Am I doing something wrong here? Is there some part of the bed missing? Should you close the blinds at night?

They are in very good condition after 10 years use and I wonder how they have remained so.

It has the cargo net thing at the front, but nothing on the windshield side or either end to stop wayward feet and arms stabbing the front blinds, or kids falling out.

Any A Class pull down bed advice most welcome.

Has it not got the curtains round it to keep you in?

If the bed is as it should be perhaps you could modify it yourself? When my children were small you used to be able to get a right angled chrome frame which fitted under mattress and came up the side high enough to stop falls.

Failing that I think I'd put them in the other bed and you have the drop down one. :)

Nail their nightclothes to the slats? :)

So, no one has damaged the blinds when using the pull down bed? and leaving them closed when using the bed is normal and okay?

If they are lying accross the van and they are children how are their feet hitting the blinds ?

My Frankia and current hymer drop down beds have a curtain attached to the bed that surrounds it when it's down and a net for the front...can't really touch the blinds.
I'm 6ft 3 and lying in the drop down I don't touch the blinds with my feet.

If the kids are messing around and hitting the blinds then it's a case of just telling them to behave or buying one of these.

YES: I've damaged my front drivers-side pleated blinds by too much night-time activity BUT that's as much info as you're getting! ;)

Now, instead of opening them "squarely" (as I do with the passenger side) I wiggle them a little, usually keeping the undamaged bottom of the blind ahead of the top of the blind (which has detached itself from the metal runner in a couple of places). A slight inconvenience but nothing untoward.

As has been pointed out, the "tent" structure around the bed should run in slots so I never worry about falling out onto the dashboard (nor of losing my reading book or any of the remote controls which tuck nicely into the front "ridge"). (y)
