As the lockdown starts to ease, how can we try to show a united front of responsible Motor-homers. I think we have an ideal opportunity to reverse all the assumed bad blood against Motor-homers and show those that do not holiday the way we do that we can be responsible, thoughtful and none damaging to the environment.
In particular how can we get local authorities to see sense in respect of overnight car parking, bringing much needed cash back into their local economies, etc

Any more ideas and how do we get things off the ground ?

A Romulan Invisibility Cloak would help 😉

The gooduns will still be gooduns and the baduns will still be baduns. Nothing will change I fear.

Unless, the LAs see cash from motorhomers as they do in Europe and start to change their views. They need money now more than ever.
Yip to your first point. (y)
Perhaps now is the time to show councils how they could make money from an "aire structure"? How they would manage social distancing, etc though? Mhhhh.

Always expect the worst then you won't be disappointed. There is absolutely no reason for local authorities to change their stance unless there's big money at stake.
Good luck though.

Ah yes, that'll have to be cyclists then, not those who holiday by car or plane to destinations near or far away.
I've never experienced any 'bad blood' when motorhoming.
I prefer to enjoy things as they are, in a responsible way. Besides, life's too short to spend any of it trying to change others' opinions of me.

A complete and utter waste of time. The Itinerant attitude is never going to change.

Jim's algorithm changed the Irish term I used to the above term of Itinerant. F.Y.I.

Perhaps email your local council telling them about how Craven District Council manages their motorhome overnight parking. There are places in Skipton, Settle and Ingleton so far. The cost is very small to overnight. I haven’t stayed over as they are all near to me. The Skipton one is always full. I feel sure the owners of these motorhomes are spending money in the town. So it’s a win win situation. I have used the spaces at Settle and Ingleton whilst eating there. The Settle one had a couple of motorhmes there but each time we have used the Ingleton one we have been the only ones.

Wast of breath UK LA's appear to hate motorhomes as do all guest houses & hotels. I don't understand the last bit as Motorhomers are never going to stay in a guest house/hotel instead of their Motorhome.
Lets face it most of the time you can't even park in a town to do some shopping and even if you can they charge an exorbitant rate.

Easier to hop across the channel where we are made welcome.

Once the restrictions are lifted you will be welcome at the Aire in Hawick.

When we have stayed where motorhomes are welcomed ( Hay-on-Wye, Welshpool, places in Scotland, places in Ireland NI and Eire) we've always written to the local Chamber of Commerce (or equivalent) to thank them for their hospitality and to let them know how many ££ we spent in their town. We also let people in shops / cafes / church coffee morning etc know we are in the motorhome because of the facilities offered and that we are spending money to the benefit of the local economy. Only once have we encountered a bit of "nastiness" which we just accepted, put the goods we would have purchased back on the shelves and walked out.

Shame they don't think like that in the south.

Assumed bad blood?
There was a lot of talk on mohofun about being frightened to go out in their vans because it looked as though they were on holiday, not shopping or just using it because touts the only vehicle they have.
Suffice to say I have commented on a number of occasions that I have not seen any animosity or bad blood whilst out in my PVC

During lockdown (bad blood)

Sorry I meant during lockdown

Pete took ours for its already booked MOT after lockdown - but no queries. If we went out on the Trophy though, the reg no says it came from a long way from here and the Bird would show Brighton. So if this was happening X years ago, anyone in eg Whitby may have wondered why the heck we'd come that far for a paddle?

Skegness is hardly the nearest seaside to our home (150 yds away from border of Coventry) either BUT if eg we were worried about Pete's only brother we'd try and get there soonest should we need to.

It doesn't matter a stuff what 'other folk' might think as it's none of their business - except if he's a policeman.
